Hughes had a much worse half season at QPR than De Boer did at Inter.
De Boer had a bit of a mare no doubt in Italy which meant he was available for a mid-table club in the Premier league His stock has fallen slightly but anyone with half-a-brain can see how good a manager he will be. He's from the Ajax-Barca group of managers who learnt their trade under Johan Cruyff. Literally ALL of those ex-players have gone on to become fine managers. To think Stoke had a chance of signing De Boer, whilst Hughes was going stale the last 6 months is something I sincerely hope we dont come to regret. That statement is in correct. Hughes was sacked after failing to win in the first 12 matches of the 2012/13 season. That's not half a season. After narrowly missing relegation the QPR squad underwent a massive over-haul, so it is hardly surprising the new team got off to a slow start. Hughes maintains he would have turned it round, but was not given the chance. The previous season Hughes took over from Warnock when the club were in a relegation position. He bought players and won 6 matches (including beating Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs, and us) and avoided relegation. That ranks as possibly his best performance as a manager, but is conveniently forgotten, and hardly "a bit of a mare". I see little justification for why people drool over foreign managers. Considering the money they spend and the other resources at their disposal Klopp, Guardiola, and Mourihno and Wenger in recent seasons, have under-performed.

We've got a manager. What we need is some new players. How much more do you want us to waste though?

Frank de Boer certainly looks every bit the modern manager. The Dutchman shapes up well physically and is a vision of media-ready, smart-suited spiffiness. It's not hard to see why Palace went for him.
Hopefully he will prove a triumph of style over substance and fall flat and hard on his backside, we will have to wait and see.

Can you imagine what Peter Coates would think if we signed a new manager and the first thing he said to the BBC was something like "he was excited to join a club that spend a lot of money" !

This looks like an amazing acquisition by Palace, a team we should be aiming to beat in the league. It was a massive missed opportunity by Coates knowing that this guy was available for the past couple of months and he was interested in coming to the Premier League. > Ajax born and bred > Values youth players > Plays attacking football I think hes a better manager than Ronald Koeman and predict he will get Palace pushing even the top 6. The guy is a winner. Instead of twisting, we have stuck with Hughes. This looks like a major opportunity lost for me. [/quote I hope Palace give him sometime. Unfortunately I think he may get sacked before he gets chance to either prove you right or more likely relegate them.
