I'll just repeat what I said on this thread two years ago, who the fuck are they all? It's pretty bad when todays 'best' act on the main stage is Sheryl Crow! (Although personally I'd be at the other stage to watch The Charlatans.) Saturday is equally as woeful, although they do finish off with Liam Gallagher & The Killers, who atleast both have that proper Glasto feel to them. I'd be packed up & gone home Sunday morning as the 'grand finale' somehow manages to be even worse than the previous two days. (What odds do I get on Miley Cyrus coming out with some "Fuck Trump/Brexit" type statement?)

Who gives a fuck if she does? Is she not allowed an opinion? She's perfectly entitled to have any opinion she likes. I'm not really sure where I suggested she wasn't.

I'm worried by your music knowledge/taste if you think sheryl crowe's the act of the day. Edit - yeah the main stage ain't great but there's plenty of good acts on the other stages.

What do you normally listen to? I'm worried by your music knowledge/taste if you think sheryl crowe's the act of the day. Generally stuff from the 60s/70s & 90s with an odd bit of 80s & early 2000s thrown in here & there. Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, ACDC, Frank Zappa, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Rory Gallagher, Motorhead, Pantera, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Oasis, Ocean Colour Scene, The Verve, Pulp, Rage Against The Machine, Joe Bonamassa, Walter Trout, Johnny Winter, Megadeth, The Stone Roses... I'm sure you get the picture, they were just a selection from off my 'recently played' list.

.... the point about music festivals is that they should be contemporary, trying to showcase all the best new talent. Knew the Eavis family back in the day before Glastonbury was Glastonbury. Used to get free pass across the paddock for The Only Ones etc. They have some classic bands (The Charlatans I saw somebody post - saw them in Brisbane last August) for us oldies, but you really need to get with what is happening now. My 21yo son’s mates were really impressed when I saw Stookie Sound after the Charlatans gig (the first time I’ve ever done two gigs in one night). Will be at GTM again in Townsville next year (ninth running)

Is Robson Green on with the other popsters? The reason I ask is that I just Googled him thinking he was the new Newcastle manager thanks to someone on here, I want to be down with the kids.

Glastonbury can't keep booking the same old timers year after year to satisfy the older generation. It's about moving with the times. Yeah, I've seen Glastonbury line ups way better than this over the years but equally there are lots of great acts on the bill. The kinds of artists that you like judging by that list just don't really exist anymore tbh, not to the standard to be playing at the world's biggest festival anyway.

I’ve been looking for tickets as my daughters like her, but she’s sold out all over. I think she’s doing a few stages at Glasnost, including one lastnight

Not my cup of tea, but my 14yo daughter loves her. Have to say the most impressive performance by a 17yo I have ever seen. Lorde’s pretty too, but never seen her live despite being a Kiwi. Next gig will be Xavier Rudd at Kuranda, the best natural amphitheatre in the world (probably my favourite gig ever was The Bhundu Boys there)

I bought ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’ when it first came out because I liked the title. Listen to it a couple of times, didn’t think much of it and haven’t bothered with it or her since. When I saw Lauren Hill was on the bill today I thought I’d give her another go to see if she’d got any better!
I’ve just watched about 10 minutes of it, what a load of shite. She has hasn’t got any better. Oh well, she had her chance.

Just love this thing called the internet ... currently sitting on a tiny island in the middle of the Ionian Sea, which has no roads, no cars and no hotels, watching Lauryn Hill live at Glastonbury on my phone! ✌️
EDIT: Miseducation is one of the great albums of the 90's imho.

Every George Ezra song sounds the same I'm not sure whether most modern music is just shit or i've officially got old. This new music style in general doesnt seem to suit large festivals or fill the air with powerful sounds. Like a good rock/indie band of 20 years ago

About Christmas time I was knocking around the shops of Bath looking for presents & you know how it is, you see more stuff you want for yourself than others(it’s the sociopath we all have within us) Anyway, I saw a classic pair of dungers for sale & I started reminiscing back to my youth, of having one strap up & one down. Then I went home & told the wife of my dream & whether I could pull it off!?! & she said,”No!” & looking at Tim tonight & can see she see’s with bright shining clarity

F*** ell now talking to what sounds like a backing track on the main stage. At least the crowd as always trying to make it better.
Yes i have heard several of Stormzy's songs before which can grow on you. Been too many festivals over the years and in my younger days liked a lot of which was music of its time but actually shit a year or two later. Please get musicians on stage and a person who can sing even off key. Each to their own.
At least through iplayer you can watch different music i have settled for Interpol for next hour.

In 1984 I went down with a load of mates (about 15 in all) and we all couldn't stand The Smiths. So, totally cidered and amphetamined up, we decided to make our way to the front and pretty much make complete arses of our selves.
What came next was not in any way planned at all but a sequence of events just followed randomly one after another and the whole thing spiralled out of control ...
We had decided to build a human period and muggins ended up being the one going up at the top, anyway when the whole thing collapsed, I managed to grab hold of the edge of the stage and started to climb up right in front of Johnny Marr who came forward and gave me a hand to help me up. Their security came rushing on to the stage to get me off but Johnny stood between them and me and said "No let him stay, it's cool". I hadn't got a bloody clue what to do, now I was there, so I started doing this stupid Smith's dance before remembering that I had got a water pistol in my pocket (we all had them and had been annoying people with them all weekend).
So I pulled the gun out of my pocket, walked towards Morrisey, who turned white as a ghost (remember this was just four years after Lennon had been shot) raised the gun up to his chest and fired the water all over him, at this point total pandemonium broke out and their set was over.
In the bottom left hand picture you can just about make out the gun in my right hand and the point at which Morrisey clocks it, sadly there isn't a picture of me actually firing it.
That was the last Glastonbury without barriers at the front!
Looking forward to this weekend though, there's some great bands on, we've got our deck chairs set up the living room, the fridge is full of beer and wine and the lap top is linked up to the telly! This should be put up every year as a benchmark of possibilities...

Glastonbury, Idles - Live at Glastonbury: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p07d6k71 via @bbciplayer Set of the day by the best band in the country right now. Thought Stormzy pulled it off, certainly showed Kanye West how its done. Jon Hopkins was impressive too.
