"EU countries were blocking, but we managed to get it done"....says Guy....whose the "We" in this statement?.... juxtapositioned against European countries..,think about it?....its as though "we". aren't acting on behalf of countries but despite them.......on some sort of project such as ever closer union!!! Genial Guy and his EU buddies do seem to be ramping up their efforts lately don't they ? Sticking their noses into as many things as possible. Maybe they want to get as many things sorted as possible before the changing of the guard after the EU election to give Jean Claude Drunker a proper "legacy" to be proud of. Bunch of shysters, they'd get on well with most of our Parliament.....they work in spite of the electorate as well don't they !

Labour's turn. Layer upon layer of hypocrisy.
Just watch the Left's reaction to Farage.
It'll be Far right, Bannon, Trump, UKIP, Tommy Robinson, failed MP candidate, Arron Banks, Russian money etc, etc, etc.
Anything but having a coherent Brexit plan and actually delivering it.

You're right - I've noticed that the Guardian online usually has one or sometimes two main articles most days where they are criticising or trying to belittle Farage, the Brexit Party, or the type of supporters. The Observer has had one or two articles in similar vein. Not once have they really criticised anything that he's said but instead they've tended to spin things to include his past links with UKIP, or Rees-Mogg's sister's involvement. They must be worried and it's still early days.

BigJohn I have banged this drum so many fucking times on this thread. Brexit was, is, and never shall be about the usual party politics bullshit. It's pissed me off no end how so many Labour voters are 'anti-Brexit' because "I hate the Tories". It's absolutely pathetic, playground style (lack of) arguement. It must be dozens of times I have specifically asked the more far-left Labour voters on here if they would have voted for Brexit if Jezza/Labour were in power... Not a single one of them ever answered it. And it's clear as day why they wouldn't answer it, because if they said "No I wouldn't" it shows that they have zero faith in Jezza/Labour being able to lead this country, but if they say "Yes I would" it shows that they're so narrow minded that they're blinded by their 'anti-Tory' bias & can't see the bigger picture. Brexit could, and should have been great for this country, but too many people (Who ironically kept telling others they didn't know what they were voting for) voted without having a clue what it was they were voting for, and just how important this vote was (Could have been!) We had the chance to make a real difference, a real change in how this country was run, and we've thrown it all away... Or had it stolen from us! Prior to the referendum being called, I never met a single person who had a good word to say about the EU. I still maintain fear of potential repercussions of leaving rather than any great support or appreciation for the EU was behind the 48% that they somehow managed to accumulate. If people had voted for what they really wanted I'm sure we'd be out now. The idea of people marching around with EU flags is simply ludicrous and never seen anywhere in Europe before. They are simply 'useful idiots' for the globalists. It's also interesting to notice that these people seem to have mocking images of May, when she is actually their remain hero.

Yes , he's showing real leadership again isn't he? People are latching on to and analysing everything he says....and I cannot think in my lifetime of a politician not elected to Westminster who is making both the Tories and Labour ask questions of themselves and has motivated some members of the public not previously involved to become so. A breath of fresh air, eh?

You can read his tweet both ways - although I tend to think he has changed his mind again and now doesn't support a referendum.

He's trying to emulate Corbyn and the Labour party in terms of consistency or perhaps May in terms of telling the truth. What's happened to British politics when a racist charlatan seems to have so much effect. I wonder if Cameron thinks that his pre referendum promises are being honoured? We could do with a clean sweep of these career parliamentarians couldn't we , Rip?

I don't think he has ever wanted a second referendum but at the beginning of 2018 certain people were calling for one. People like Blair and Adonis, in particular. He said at the time "The percentage that would vote to leave next time would be very much bigger than it was last time around. And we may just finish the whole thing off and Blair can just disappear off into total obscurity."
He (luke) warmed to a second referendum back then to "kill off the issue for a generation once and for all."
I don't know if he's still open to the idea now given what has happened in the last 18 months.

Neither Corbyn nor May is setting the agenda. In fact they are not setting any agenda. We have have the most ineffectual and impotent prime minister and the most ineffectual and impotent leader of the opposition since the days of Oliver Cromwell. And before them is the most significant peace time agenda in centuries. God help us all.

A few random comments on Labour's stance then for a bit of contrast. I'm not much for Adonis myself. He just seems a bit self centred to me. I wonder if he does really see the EU elections as a gravy train? In an extraordinary intervention that exposes the tensions at the top of the party over Brexit strategy, Tom Watson warns that Labour will lose to Farage’s new “far right” Brexit party in May’s European elections if it continues to give the impression that “we half agree with him”.

Well how about this thought , kick the tories down the road for a spell . Labour have pledged to outlaw zero hours contracts despite numerous labor councils making use of them . These contracts are an affront to decent hard working people and drive a coach and horses through workers rights . I think it undermines people's ability to function in today's society . I will vote labour just to end these awful contracts. Can't tell you how much I despise them I'd trust Labour to end these awful zero hours contracts almost as much as I trust Parliament to deliver a No Deal Brexit ! I think it must be obvious to everyone by now that Corbyn is offering everything to everyone. It will be totally different if he gets into power otherwise there will be no money left in 13 months rather than 13 years.

And Dee of course the main/ only weapon in the next month will be " target the man/men/ divert/ don't address the argument"... alongside weaponising the Irish question. It's targeting party funding, not the man. And they're not very probing questions - just some early analysis of the party's funding. Unless you think political parties should be above questioning? They already quoted where the money came from, aren't the journalists are being slanderous in calling them liars?

Extract from Press Association article today about the Brexit Party funding (can't do the link at the moment)
NIGEL Farage logged on to his Brexit Party’s PayPal account last night — to reveal that in just nine days since its launch that fed-up voters have stumped up £1.5million, joining at the rate of one every 30 seconds and boosting coffers by £50 a minute.
Last night the former Ukip leader said he will soon have more backers than the “dying” Tory party and the Brexit Party are set to change the face of British politics.
He said: “I’m getting a good vibe just by looking at the sheer numbers who are joining us. I’ve been reading their letters and emails. They feel utterly let down and betrayed. We’re going to field 70 candidates in the Euro elections but it won’t stop there. This is now a long-term commitment we’re taking on and we’re going for it.”
Unlike the main political parties, nearly every penny of funding comes small donors. He logged on to the PayPal account to let us see the range of people paying £25 to become registered supporters — with 15,811 joining on launch day alone.
Mr Farage reckons that by polling day on May 23 the party will have overtaken the Tories’ 120,000 members. He said: “Our critics can’t believe this is happening. “There are no concessions for young or old. No £3 membership fee like Labour. It’s a flat rate — and people are still joining. It shows the huge appetite there is for Brexit and to change the broken two party system.”

Senior Brexiteer fuelling violence with 'vain and bitter' article about Theresa May, Tory MP says
Conservative MPs have accused senior Eurosceptic Sir Bill Cash of fuelling violence against politicians after he accused Theresa May of "abject surrender" and "capitulation" to the EU. Former cabinet minister Nicky Morgan said Sir Bill's words were "not helpful" while former Foreign Office minister Alistair Burt accused the veteran MP, a senior member of the European Research Group of anti-EU Tories, of a publishing "a vain and bitter article".
Writing in the Sunday Telegraph, Sir Bill said this was an "abject surrender" and accused the prime minister of "capitulation" and "appeasement".
The comments were strongly condemned by pro-EU Tories. Ms Morgan, a former education secretary, told BBC Radio 4's Today: "I understand that Sir Bill Cash has written an article in which there are all sorts of phrases about betrayal and capitulation and all the rest of it. "As my colleague Alistair Burt has pointed out, this kind of language is not helpful. It's not the kind of language that our councillors or frankly any normal people would use." The MP, who has received death threats, said she saw a link between the type of comments made by Sir Bill and violence directed against MPs.
Asked if she believed there was a connection, she said: "I do. I think it's been shown that the language that MPs or campaigners, mainly in favour of Brexit, are using is stoking up other people, often who are sitting at home watching all this stuff and it gets them really, really angry and fired up and then they say things that they would never say face to face."
Conservative MPs are plotting how to oust Ms May and on Tuesday will discuss proposals for changing party rules to allow another vote of no confidence in the prime minister. Under current rules, a confidence vote in the party leader can only be held once a year. Ms May saw off an attempt to topple her in December, meaning another vote cannot be held until the end of the year.
