I remember reading that loans are easier to arrange and when things are getting close to the deadline clubs may plump for a loan with an agreement to make it permanent later. See Mr Wollscheid.
However, in this case it seems unlikely to be the reason as Muni moved a couple of weeks before the deadline unless there was some other reason for rushing it through? Not sure how long it was until he made his debut.

So sad to read yesterday that apparently it has been agreed between Stoke and Girona that Muniesa will move there permanently in the summer. All of the talk has been about Bojan returning, but I would much prefer to see Munnie back. His heart, soul and passion were always in this club and if he is fitter now after being with Girona, then injuries apart, he would be a great squad player. He has great ability too. Come on Paul, use your influence to get him back. He would have been a great asset in the fight against relegation

TBH (there's a huge thread about Muni already) he just isn't either fit or consistent for long enough, no one knows his best position, he's not a great centre back and he's not disciplined enough at LB. I'd have liked to have seen him used as a DCM as I think he could have been a very useful player there but he just couldn't stay off the injury table long enough. Sadly it's time to wave goodbye and move on. Gouranga.

Another mention of this mooted obligatory buy clause in Muni's loan - so does look like he's definitely off as expected... www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/stoke-city-transfer-marc-muniesa-1598614Sport report this morning: āMuniesa still belongs to Stoke City, who have this season been relegated to the Championship, but in his contract it was agreed that if Girona stayed up, as ended up happening, he would become a player in the property of that club.ā

You could tell from his tweet when we got relegated that he was effectively no longer our player.

Gutted loved muni never got a fair crack at stoke, but can't blame him wanting to brir his young son in catalonia with his family

Rowett said in his interview (in so many words) that the Championship is very much an endurance race and only the toughest survive. Loved Muni. I saw his best match at Sunderland when he scored 2 goals from LB. Always had a smile on his face and cheerful disposition.

Let's be honest about this, he's no great player, he's too light weight for the prem, so he's got no chance in the championship. Just cos he's got a great song doesn't make him great player

I'm sure Muni's commitment would be up for it but his body wouldn't cope.

only 14 games last year says all you really need to know about Muni. he just isn't cut out for the demands of professional football. but a great guy and, I guess, no trouble at all to manage. best wishes to him and his family I say.

I was expecting him to leave this summer - my only issue was whether the teams which would want him could afford to pay the transfer fee and wages. I guess we will see on that score. If he does leave, I feel it increases the chances of Joselu and, especially, Bojan going too. Sorry to burst your bubble but Joselu was sold last year Ā£4.95m The post is from last year?

Surprised they're activating if I'm honest? He made a bright start, got injured a couple of times and then permanently lost his place in the team. Sounds familiar to be fair.....

Decent enough player Muni but not particularly sad see him go, he's not better than Pieters and he's got no chance of being a regular at centre half, so he'd be benched anyway, scored a great goal v Burnley though.

Heād be excellent on the left side of a back three, that position is made for him...... We were obsessed with having a back three, a back three that used their feet rather than knock it long. And we get rid of the lad from Barcelona and pay Ā£18 mil for Wimmer... No idea what went on with that, Muniesa would have been perfect for us, feel sorry for him

Sad to see Munie go if he does. Never got the chance he deserved at Stoke. In his last season he seemed to be getting over his injury blight. I wish him well !!!!

I hardly read any posts, merely for the reason there has been so much crap written about Muniesa over the years, so here is my final post on this (same as all previous) Muniesa simply is not good enough, never was and never will be, overrated and thank fk I donāt have to listen to our āfansā singing his song when he was on the bench and not cheering on our players who were on the pitch, totally crazy......

Muni seemed a really nice bloke, good pro but couldn't stay injury free for long, and was over-rated in my opinion.

Maybe the activation clause is non-negotiable? Perhaps we inserted it in the hope Girona stayed up and heād be off the books?

He canāt stay fit enough, may as well get rid of him.
Heās only managed 13/14 games over there due to injuries.
Itās a shame, but thereās no room for sentiment this season. We need a team full of robust players not ones whoāre breaking down every week.
