American international Danny Williams was the best player on the pitch today. Reading will surely lose him now that he's out of contract. Would be an excellent replacement for Whelan.

As long as Prudhoe isn't in goal for us we stand a chance.

I watched him closely in the first half (would've been the whole game if it wasn't so shit) and can see where you're coming from... Can't really comment further though as I haven't watched any other reading games this season.

There was an interesting discussion on 5Live before the game about how the chairman had brought in a manager who would provide a recognisable style and a clear identity for the club. Exactly what we have lost.

Why the fucking hell would anyone want to play them first game of the season A- the way we're playing and B- the way we start off seasons. They may be in -goal difference but they have one of the league's top scorers.

As an American, I'm stumped why he has only gotten a handful of international caps and hasn't been selected for any of the World Cup qualifying games so far. He has the ability to change a game and is superior to some of the plodding crap that gets selected over him.

Danny Williams will be 29 next season. Don't we need someone a bit younger?

Great, don't need anymore southern teams in it. Both look like they can't score in a month of Sundays, it's always great to see there is at least one team worse than us. Many said that we would go straight back down when we were promoted

Never mind it being their first time in the Premier League,i'm 47 in a few weeks and they have never been in the top flight in my footballing memory.Last time in the top flight i was 2.Welcome back to the English First Division, and as we left it The Canon League. I'm a few years short of 74 and can remember us playing them in the old 1st Division. They struggled and we struggled to beat them, but usually did. They had Frank Worthington, an excellent striker and huge Elvis fan.

Good for the premier league this can still happen something fresh something different not a southern club - which is always good so - welcome - Yorkshire bastards !!! (just needed to get that off my chest) young -fit - aggressive - ambitous - plenty of young strong legs in that team too - (Note To Mr Hughes) Also note couldn't score in a brothel.First club to be promoted to the premier league on a minus goal diff. Not just to the Premier League, first club ever.

I don't think anyone wants to play them first - it's a dig at the fixture computer that always seems to give us a "hiding to nothing" first game.

No I think it was someone else. Although admittedly I've only read 3 of the gospels so I guess it's possible.

6 points for us next season They way we play we aren't guaranteed six points against anyone. We only done a league double over the team promoted via the play offs once since we came up and that was against Hull last season.
