World class chip shot on him, loyal to his club and played a crazy amount of matches and also went full 90 instead of doing one of those stupid 80 min send offs. I think he's a legend of the Italian game for sure. That selfie celebration is mint Totti, I watched the match it was a little to cry happy for my jovial ass but if we had a 700 match loyal player we might see some water works. My entire football watching life he was Mr. Roma.

A good player that's about it. At no moment in his career has he ever been one of the top 3-4 players or even top 10. A club Legend maybe, a world legend, never. He isn't even a world class footballer.

So, it appears people are choosing to ignore the fact I said Totti was a "very, very good player" just because I don't put him in the same category player of Zidane, fat Ronaldo, Paolo Maldini etc who were around the same time as Totti was in his prime. IT'S AN OPINION. Yes it is,you are perfectly entitled to it. Equally other people are perfectly entitled to deride it.

Tbf Totti has done a lot of, erm, dirty things in his career. Saying that, doesn't stop him being a very, very good player. Wouldn't call him a legend or an all time great though. Apparently (according to the Italian journo on the European football show on BT), the debate in Italy is around if he's the best Italian footballer ever. What? Outrageous Italy have produced some world class players and Totti is not one of them

“Totti has a genius in him that I don’t see in other players. Not even Zizou (Zidane) has the same kind of intuition, even if he is more consistent and more of a team player than Totti. Totti needs to be more mature, but he is fantastic and he can do things that others don’t even understand.” – Michel Platini
“There are many star players in Italy, but the only one I would bring to Bayern Munich would be Totti.” – Franz Beckenbauer
“[ . . . ] he is the best player with whom I have ever worked. I have also worked with Lampard and Del Piero, but Francesco is the better player. [ . . . ] He could have won several Balon d’Ors had he left Roma for Barcelona or Manchester United.” – Claudio Ranieri
I think the general consensus is that he was restricted from becoming a "world class" player because he remained at one team. He had everything in his locker. Not many strikers can drop into midfield and boss the big boys around in the big games aged 30+. If he'd have gone to a Madrid or Bayern or United and retired younger, he would no doubt go down as a world class player.

How on earth TOTTI is not a legend or world class is beyond me!!!
Seasons: 25 Games: 786 Goals: 307 Assists: 197 Most Serie A seasons scored in (23) Youngest ever Serie A captain (22) Won the World Cup with Italy Won the Serie A title with Roma
Turned down Madrid, AC Milan etc...
Totti is an epitome of loyalty, chose his city, club and fans over money and more trophies.
Such unbelievable legendary farewell
