Absolutely class midfielder. One of the best and gifted midfielders ever to grace a football pitch.
Happy Birthday Gazza.

Because he's listed three great and memorable goals before a (obviously brilliant) save? You shouldn't put words into people's mouths.

Wonderful talent and a flawed human beings, much like our own Alan Hudson. I'm drawn to people like Gazza precisely because you marvel at the skill and sympathise with the frailty. I'm sure he was a sub for Newcastle at the Vic in 1985, and played at the Brit for Everton. He was a guy who wore his heart on his sleeve, and I hope he can find health and happiness.

A wonderful player and not a bad person, just a man who has failed to find something that replaces football. What would a Paul Gascoigne be worth these days?
Genius.

Happy Birthday Gazza. What a player, but flawed. Absolutely worshipped at Rangers and everywhere else he played. A player that got everyone excited when he was playing. Hope he can overcome his demons and have many more birthdays.

It's a shame that Fergie didn't get him when he was after him, think he (and his strict policy with his players) might have been able to save him from himself

Happy b'day Gazza. The three greatest and most exhilarating moments in English nogger for me... Geoff Hurst's goal to put our world cup win out of doubt. Gazza's goal against Scotland. Beckham's goal against Greece. Happy days. OS. So you don't rate Banks unbelievable save from Pele ? Of course I rate it, just as I do many other memorable moments, but for me those three stand out most. Reasons? 1) Geoff Hurst's goal was the clincher that took England to their only world cup win. If you weren't alive and you didn't experience that moment then it's no use me explaining. There has never been another time in our history was was so glorious. 2) Because Gazza was the complete extrovert and one of the greatest characters ever to grace the English game, and that goal was against Scotland... the Auld Enemy, the manner in which he scored that goal and the way he celebrated it summed him up to a 'T'. Unfuckingbelievable. 3) Beckham's performance in the game against Greece was the finest ever for an England player for me. He took the game by the scruff of the neck and was a complete inspiration to all his team mates. And then to cap it off he scored that fantastic free kick to take us through. So, those are MY most memorable moments. If you want to choose otherwise then be my guest. I won't criticise you. Each to their own. OS.

My footballing hero and always will be. This great game was invented for players like Gascoigne.
There isn't enough cash in the world for what i'd pay to see him play again in his prime. Players today, even the best of the best, are sheer imitations of what Gascoigne was.

Beckham's goal against Greece. Happy days. OS. I remember Beckhams free kick very well. I was 15 years old and sat behind the goal at Old Trafford with my Dad. Great time. It's in my top 3 England moments also, with Gazza's goal and the 5-1 game. Also both watched with Dad. Perhaps if I watched more England games with him we'd get more memorable moments! Unfortunately the only memorable Stoke moments I have with him of recent times have come this season....and not been for the right reasons. Like Leicester at home. What do you reckon Brist_AL?

Documentary on ITV4 last night about him simply called 'Gascoine' - I missed the first bit but what I saw was cracking.
Never realised how bad the press phone tapping business was for the poor bloke, absolute wankers, no wonder he was losing the plot, disgusting.
What a genius of a player, just unbelievable at times.
