Anyone who does not have shawcross down as the best CB we had here since smith is taking the piss.
I started watching stoke around 1987 so for me
The best; 1 shawcross 2 Huth 3 Overson
Worst 1. John Clarke 2. Nicky Mohan 3. Steven Tweed

This picture always surprises me though If you'd asked me to name the three people who'd lifted trophies for us at Wembley. Mr Mohan would have been on page 3 of my guesses!

Lee Fowler has got to be up there with the worst surely? Centre halves that's are 5 foot and a fag end are never a good idea.....

Probably because he was a left back. He played in both positions though..... Shawcross and Woodgate have played right back...it doesn't make them a right back.

He played in both positions though..... Shawcross and Woodgate have played right back...it doesn't make them a right back. He spent most of his time in 89-90 at centre half with Carr and Statham at left back. It might not have been his natural position but he played there and he was dire...

He was part of a defence that lost at home to bristol rovers 4-1. One of many players at the time who were not up to the standards required of a stoke player. He represents the low point for me.maybe he was not as bad as I remember but we used to leak goals all over the place when he was here, and in the third tier too, surely we can't get much worse than that

Anyone remember John Dreyer . Scored the most unlikely of equalisers at turf moor,in the 4th minute of stoppage time. What a brilliant mental !! But then he was prone to giving away at least 6 penalties a season !!

Hahaha , one of my favourite games ever !!! Just for that mental !! Considering it was a crappy 1-1 draw , and did we have someone sent off ? I remember muggleton saving a penalty right on half time . But yes the mental was excellent , after getting loads of shit off of the Burnley fans all game , and then a late late equaliser. We were hanging off that net separating the supporters going wild !! Never ever hugged so many strangers it was brill 👍

Well that's one of the stupidest things I've seen on here and that says a lot! Why? Abdoulaye was a one man machine and Bruno is champions league quality. Truth hurts, especially when it comes to captain untouchable. In 2012 Sir Alex Ferguson said he regretted selling Shawcross, but Ferdinand and Vidic were in front of him.Now perhaps you weren't watching Soke in 2011,2012,13,14,15? If you were then i suggest your judgement is slightly flawed. Shawcross has been extremely influencial for Stoke, and but for his back injury i would have thought he could have got a few more England caps. Your lack of respect for him is staggering.

We've had so many
Doyle was tremendous for us in the time he was here as was Dave Watson. You can't look past Smithy and Bloor. I can't put Shawcross in because I don't think he is a leader

I try to block out the worst but Sonko, Paul Williams and Ben Petty have to be in the running.

Truth hurts, especially when it comes to captain untouchable. The truth does hurt so accept this as the truth.Bruno Martins Indi is a good centre half, nothing more. Champions league ? Sure, that's why Porto didn't pick him and why everyone is falling over themselves to buy him. Stoke is his level and I hope we buy him, but if a one season wonder ( because Abdy was quite poor second season) and a guy who is most definitely NOT Champions League is your version of the truth then fine - I'm sure you believe in Santa Claus too.
