Had a great season for us when he was absolutely fantastic. Other than that I thought he was no more than ok. Good luck to him though.

Prior to Begovic going to Chelsea, Bournemouth would never have been able to attract such a player. This season Bournemouth have finished in the top ten in the Premiership and now they look like they might get Begovic, Terry and Defoe to join their squad before dust has settled on the season. This to me puts our transfer activity to shame. I am hoping to enjoy next season but somehow I cannot rid myself of negative feelings about our future. Would you seriously want any of these 3 at Stoke now? I would not perhaps want Terry but don't try and tell me that Begovic and Defoe are not good quality signings.

Begovic gone for £10m after been atrocious for Chelsea. We sold him £8m no sell on
Nzonzi sold for a measly £6.8m now worth £25m+ With no sell on.

Well given Begovic only had a year on his contract, whereas now he has two years, and given the transfer market has exploded since his move from Stoke it's Chelsea's outgoing transfers you should be questioning.

Really Begovic had to go. He wasn't happy on Chelsea's bench no way would he have sat on ours and watched Jack Butland.

Sell on clauses usually relate only to profit. They vary in percentages. If we had 25% sell on clause of the profit on Begovic we would have made a whopping £500k.

I'm still struggling to get over Mike Bernard to Everton! Everton? I mean JimmyG to Man U was excruciating, but reconcilable logically, but Everton??? And here you are bleating about 2 want-away players in the last year of their contracts; grow a pair and deal with it

Funny how bournemouth seem to be able to end the season and then get deals done before Howe or the CEO go on their holiday , I'm sure we were told its very hard for clubs our size , with players of the pedigree we want , blah blah , well Defoe and Bego would represent two much capped internationals and excellent early bits of business for me, for a club with half our average gate and who finished comfortably above us with a lower wage bill , if they go through . Meanwhile back on planet Scholes the deal we did with Porto 9 months ago isn't actually a deal , we are aiming for self sufficiency, and press releasing the signings of Dads army as though its a major coup . While recognising the window doesn't end until august , we don't half talk some utter shit about the rationale for our transfer strategy. Here we go again Don't criticise at least the post made sense for once.

Was pissed off when he went but Butland's easily the better of the two, and Bego is too good to be sitting on our bench.

No that sounds like planning to have two keepers, both of whom are going to be unhappy to sit on the bench and both will soon be agitating for a move. Better to get someone who is developing and may be able to replace Jack in 18-24 months or an old hand happy to be back-up. So what do you foresee the Goalkeeping situation being when Butland leaves?? By the way, if Butland is still here in 18-24 months, I will eat my own arse. If the understudy is ready (as Jack was when Bego left) they step up. If not, then we get a decent replacement with the proceeds. Much better in my opinion than having 2 unhappy keepers being paid a ton of money for a couple of years.

Not decrying Bego, but I think Butland is the better keeper and Defoe is hardly a long-term investment...and wouldn't help reduce the age of the squad

Bournemouth have improved past us in the league and are making shrewd signings that are going to help them maintain their progress. Each window we have had so far has seen failure that has stifled any progress.

Bego has coined it for sitting on the bench and now has a new challenge keeping the ball out of the net no doubt on decent bucks and a great location. If he plays as well as Lee Grant has this season. he will be a favourite down there. Couldn't make it up could you

Butland is a better goal keeper than Begovic and his distribution is waaaay better. . However, Potterlog claims Bego would never be #2 behind Butland. Who are we to argue?

Bego is your stereotypical journeyman footballer. Do you remember him playing silly buggers early doors in his career here by refusing to play in certain competitions, when a rumour somebody was sniffing around for him gathered pace. He is the sort of guy who will be turning out for Macclesfield or Crewe or such like at 48 years of age just to ensure he has squeezed every last penny possible out of the industry. He will rebuild his worth at Bournemouth for a season or two and then bag a big move to Italy or Spain next I would think. 1. That's not what journeyman means 2. If he was turning out for Macclesfield or Crewe at 48 years of age I'd have the utmost respect for him 3. If he bags a big move to Italy or Spain after two good seasons at Bournemouth it will be the least he deserves So what defines a journeyman then? He is 29 and is already on his 4th club with possibly his best years still ahead of him. I see his move to B/Mouth as an opportunity to rebuild his stock after playing 2nd fiddle at Chelsea with another big club move in a couple of years then ultimately the long slow slide down the ladder which will be at least 4 clubs in my opinion. So he could end up playing for 9/10 clubs in his career. Now for me that's a journeyman unless I am missing something, and certainly when you compare to say someone like Denis Smith who stayed with Stoke through youth team to the end of his career ( an extreme example I know in this day and age ) then I am struggling to see what a journeyman definition really is, if Bego doesn't fit that description. By the way, I am not saying being a journeyman is a bad thing!

Butland is better than Bego, so why would we need to sign him. Terry is a spent force ego maniac and whilst Defoe may still be a talent, he isn't going to be around more than a season or so. The comparison to make will be when the next window opens / closes to see if Stoke have made better signings, in those positions where we need to improve. Personally I don't see Darren Fletcher as a good example...but I might be wrong.

Whatever it means I don't get how an old player continuing to play at lower levels is indicative of someone who's only interested in money like your original post seemed to suggest. And FWIW I think Bego is easily good enough to stay with a biggish club until the end of his career without sliding down the ladder, as you put it.

I think the main thing that Begovic will take to Bournemouth is defensive organisation - something they do need if they want to maintain or better themselves from where they are now.
