Worth a shot, he could play on the left and we do need a left winger.

Hold on fellas, don't get carried away.....it's in the Mirror, where stories and the truth dont necessarily go hand in hand.

Definetly worth a 12 month contract, he still impresses me whenever I see Villa on TV.

Worth a 12 month contract on a free transfer, as long as he's not asking for extortionate wages.
We desperately need a left midfielder/winger. We got away with it this season, but no way can you get away with it in the prem!

im not sure hes worth a 12month contract high wages and too slow although he has a good left foot

If we do offer him a deal I hope it doesn't cost us too much in terms of wages and at the loss of a younger player on the left as a result. We are going to need pace. Berger's got skill but not much pace left.
Wardrobe's right though. This is in the Mirror.

would be a good squad player for a 12 month contract, not too great a wage though I hope.

If we were still in the Championship I'd say it was a good move, as a Premier League club though it just doesn't make sense to me.

if we went for a double swoop for Marlon King, we could have a Berger-King combo!!

I can't see this being true really, when he was here last time, he wasn't played.

He would be FAR better in the prem than in the champ, more time on the ball etc.
Steven Gerrard stated that he has the best left foot he's ever seen..
I would love it if a player of his quality joined stoke, we need balance on the wings and Berger and Lawrence may just give us that.
We'll see what happens , but there's no smoke without fire ,surely?

Where does this "more time on the ball" in the Premiership idea come from?
I hope our players don't think like that. They'll be in for a rude awakening if they do.

There is more time on the ball in the Prem. The pace is much quicker and everythign happens quicker but you do get more time on the ball

If this is true then I am NOT very happy at all. Pulis hardly used him last he was here, he's not a player who would ft into our style and pattern of play and if this is symptomatic of the type of singings we are going to make - other clubs cast offs - then my confidence has taken a dent.
I have worried for a long time about how ineffectual our scouting network is - is this a further indication that we have no sort of effective european network at all and that we wil rely on English based cast ofs??

Berger as a squad player and with 7 allowed on the bench would be excellent imo.

Perhaps we MIGHT just change our style of play slightly...
The players Pulis will be chasing won't want to be hoofing, in fact i doubt they WILL when they get on the pitch.

If he is an example of the quality we are looking for we WILL struggle. He'd be worth a go if we were still in the Championship but he's not good enough in my opinion.
I'd rather we went for someone younger, maybe McSheffrey from Brum.

It'd be a pretty underwhelming signing IF TRUE.
35 this year, barely figured at Villa. You'd think Pulis would be looking for pace, power and stamina in his wide men. Berger's obviously still got the touch and footballing brain, but not sure which boxes he ticks at this stage in his career.
He could be an expensive, bench-warming luxury.

Hmm tricky one. Certainly a good player to have in the squad, adds quality and experience. I have been impressed with the impact he's made on the rare occassions he's played for Villa this year.
Flattered to deceive on his loan spell last season, but worth a go for 12-months IMO.

if we signed him as 1st choice then we might worry but as a squad player on £0 fee he would be a good signing, asuming wages not too extortionate, for 12 months.
he wasnt fit last time & Villa commented that he was much rejuvanated when he wwent back there coutesy of Stokes fitness regime.

That would be strange, he struggled to break into our first team last season and when he did get a bit of game, thinking Cov away, he was hardly noticable. Add onto that the reason why we got him was he as in he didn't want to play reserves... I knowTone liked his attitude but at the time he was thinking he might have to find a new club so you'd expect it to be good.

I'm not sure really. ??? I suppose that means a no. I think he might prove to be a useful squad player but not sure about his work ethic that is required in the current Stoke team.
