We finish 16th or around there, indifferent season to say the least.
Hughes won't be going in my honest opinion. He will be given money this summer (he will be trusted with money, he has been no better or worse than any other premier manager with cash given to him), new players, fresh start next season.
Those who have critisized him, would you be able to get behind him again? Or is your mind made up? Thoughts?

Would definitely be able to get behind him absolutely nothing against the bloke just really fed up with the football he's produced the past 16 months. Don't even care too much about being 15/16th if he provides good exciting football.

Do we just want to play pretty football with the occasional win and lots of defeats going down fighting and just about survive? It's not about either or for me, it's about building on what we had, and that's not happened this season at all. Who's to say with a few tweaks in the squad we can't get our mojo back? I thought a while ago we'd probably finish 14th but it's so tight in and around us that anything could still happen. If we at least manage to avoid defeat in the last three games it'll go some way towards stopping the rot in our form at the moment. Hopefully we'll begin with a good performance on the South Coast tomorrow in front of yours truly

We could have accrued the same amount of points as we have this season in an entertaining fashion and there would not be anything like the sort of disillusionment that is enveloping the place. Good open entertaining football with plenty of goals would make mid table mediocrity far more palatable and as for pushing on it gives you a far better base to push on from, face facts we're never going to push on and challenge for a Europa slot if we continue to struggle to score goals. We're not scoring enough and are drawing too many games as a direct result of the over cautious approach that has been adopted. Its led to less points less goals and less excitement and is a recipe for discontent.

A team usually ends up where it deserves to and not every team can entertain in every single game. What I'm saying is that we may still make progress from the poor position we find ourselves in with a few intelligent signings. Of course we need to score more goals...I've been rambling on at length about the need for another new striker seeing as we won't have Bony (sic) and probably Joselu (sic, sic) to select from. I'd be more than happy for one of Crouch and Walters to go in order to bring a frontline goalscorer in so that we don't place all of our eggs in the Saido basket. I still hope this happens. A defensive midfielder of note will help, as will a full season from Jack Butland. I'd still look to bring back Bojan to give us that spark he could still provide. These adjustments may see us making the advances we yearn for. I don't expect miracles but I do expect us to improve, even if it is to stand still in 9th! Not that I see that happening this season.

I just don't get the raw statistical analysis of our performance. Whether what we have achieved in the last couple of seasons is on par or above the resources used. The manner in which it has been achieved has been poor value. Your analysis seems to ignore the fact that football is an entertainment product with the vast majority of its funds coming from people paying to be entertained whether that be at the ground or on tv.

Yeah, it has been an underwhelming season, for sure. This season has been the dictionary definition of mediocre. We've generally gained our wins against teams below us and lost to teams above us. That doesn't really chime well with the blood and thunder expectations of the supporters. The point I'm making is it'd be madness to fire the bloke because we've performed averagely, when that's pretty much what you'd statistically expect us to do.

Finishing 15th or 16th would not be indifferent at all...it would at least be a monumental regression and indicate a serious issue needs to be resolved. Unless we get three points from all our remaining games, we're already facing a considerable drop that we need to do something about.
I would be very happy if Hughes stopped fucking about and had a clear plan; get a system to suit the players and most importantly - get the players to suit the system.
IF HE DOESN'T - however, then he would certainly have no reason to complain if he got the boot.

I support Stoke City, happy to have opinions on managers and even owners, but whoever they are I will continue to support Stoke City.
Any league position, any league, great when we win, dissapointing when we lose, would be great to do well but I am in it for ever.

I'm very unhappy at the way the last 18 months have gone at the club. What we've been watching out there on the pitch just isn't good enough. I blame Hughes for it and think we should change managers in the summer. If we don't then i will come back after the summer break in my usual pre season omptimistic mood. That belief this season will be different. If we get a few good signings in then i will be behind Hughes and wishing him to succeed this time around. However after this season i think i will be pretty short of patience with him. If we have yet another bad start to next season then it will be unforgivable this time around. If Hughes stays then i think it is absolutely vital we start next season well for him to win the fans over.

No difference between leading the pack and constantly looking to see if we can catch the 7th spot compared to constantly looking over your shoulder and trying to stay ahead of 17th? Time for you to take some happy pills. 😀

He seemed to change his mind completely on our style , the failed experiment of Bony and the exile of Bojan seems to confirm that he ran scared of tiki taca and switched to lump it up front in a desperate effort to get to 40 points.
We all know there is real quality in the side and more to come from the likes of Sobhi , Shenton etc. This above all else is what worries me to see the Grandad's on the bench blocking out the youth is scary and stinks of championship mentality.
I want to see our side have a go in EVERY game and have enough quality to stay up, not rely on desperate 0-0 draws that fade the paint on the seats with nervous fans fidgeting =).
I like Mark Hughes but his failure to achieve a safe season with the squad we have and his constant regressive changes mean sadly it's time for a change.
If he stays and puts things right next season it still will not alter this dismal season and the threat of a repeat.
I support Stoke and England it's where I come from to chose otherwise is a denial of what we are. I'll never change but live in the hope that my teams will.

Time for you to take some happy pills. 😀 You're not getting it. If you play expansive entertaining football and develop an exciting team/squad with a cutting edge that scores goals more freely and you end up anywhere outside the relegation spots there's an excellent chance you will have had an enjoyable season from a spectators perspective. Now there are no guarantees but that sort of team/squad is far better equipped to push at the top end of our ambitions. Retreating back to old plodders and route one safety first football has proved that it may just about keep you safe but in a very boring manner that disillusions your supporters and severely limits your potential. I did post when Hughes first changed the team to become more solid that it was an understandable measure to arrest our dire early season form but if it continued it would severely limit our potential points haul. Conservative selection, tactics and game management remained for the entire season and my feelings at the time have proved well founded. There is more to ambition than stating you are aiming to finish 7th. As they say actions speak louder than words and everything I have seen on the pitch has screamed scared. I'm sorry if you can't see it but you have to take more risks to prosper in this league, this safety first approach is a blind alley for a club with ambition to do more than survive.

Its not really about who the manager is , more about how the team plays , if we start next season playing the same slow turgid tripe then I will feel pissed off .
If he adds some energy and pace to his squad and gets them fit and we play with some aggression and tempo then all will be well , the fans will even start singing I'm sure

Personally I still think Hughes is going to struggle to turn things around. The end of last season was very poor and this season has been a continuation of that form. Let's face it, this is not a major surprise as other clubs often follow a similar arc in their performance. I no longer believe that Hughes can see how to fix the problems we are witnessing on the pitch. He's always been a manager who lacks a plan B...... witness his regular poor substitution decisions. That lack of flexibility appears to be manifest in all areas of his management now. If he stays I definitely hope he can turn it around and I will support the team no matter what. I still think, though, that the owner's should be looking to replace Mark and his team.

A top 6 spot is realistically a step too far for us so I'm happy finishing anywhere above the relegation places to be honest. It's not our final place I'm unhappy with, it's our dull performances with little in front of goal that bothers me. With the money spent and the squad at our disposal I expect better performances than we are seeing, far better.
