I honestly think it goes deeper than the manager. Are you suggesting a storming of the box? Is that a euphemism? 😁

I didn't like the sentimental 6 months but if it's a year, Hughes needs fucking. Why does a multi millionaire footballer need ANY extension because he broke his leg? Just don't get it Sure let him train and rehab for free. But paying him to do it???? What IS going on?

Pulis said it too. If you believe what these fuckers say than more fool you! Not sure who or what to believe, but come the end of the summer it will all be clear. Will it? He's been backed to the tune of 32m for a new midfield in the last 18 months and people still don't think he's been backed!

If it's a 12 month contract on massively reduced terms to enable him to get fit then you could argue it's no great issue. You might not agree with the sentimentality of it but we've done it before..... And they were crap deals too with Mama and Wilko.

You might not agree with the sentimentality of it but we've done it before..... I wasn't even in favour of that with Wilko or Mama. If it's entirely, mainly, or even partly a sentimental move, not sure if it's defensible for a bloke who's been on eye-watering money for a decade He had a horrific leg break, one that has caused him psychological damage or so I've heard. Maybe it is just a simple case of the club doing what they think is right by a player. IF that's the case I won't knock them for that, if it's not then it's baffling.....

Oh, I'm not saying he hasn't been backed, but 32 M isn't the biggest amount teams spend either. It will be clear at the end of the summer if the backing is still there though.

By all means, let him use the training ground but this is a guy who employs a personal chauffeur and has spent £150,000 on a fish tank

They did it with Mama, Andy Wilkinson and Delay. It's clearly part of their MO.

I am getting seriously concerned now and its becoming a bloody joke.. After Hughes says a few weeks ago we will be running with less senior players we have had more of the oldies getting extensions..not sure what on earth is going on but it wreaks of jobs for the boys..

I think he could have competed for a spot in the starting XI if he hadn't picked up that horrific injury. He'd link well with Shaq/Arnie either side of him.

If this is a sign of our ambitions then that new corner is going to be bursting at the seems. I cant wait for this season to end already but todays news hardly gets the pulse racing for next season does it!

On two player for Stoke City it's pretty massive. And two players that don't suit us at all.

I have not the foggiest clue what Hughes is doing in terms of the much needed revamping of the squad, but he is seriously hamstringing himself with all these contract extensions to ageing squad players. Omnishambles.......... That it is. I don't think Hughes will be splashing out this summer if we are doing this. Ireland never played when he was fit!

I am with Jezza. What on earth is he he doing?. Proving a point maybe. He does it his way or no way. With these extensions how much room does that leave us in the 25 man squad?.

I would have thought that an injured player's wages are paid out of insurance, so it may well be at no cost to Stoke.
Not sure what would happen if he was released and who would pay.
May have it wrong but I do know that a big reason for the medicals is the insurance

We're down next season, I'm not having an attack of the biscuits either, we're finished. Keep the faith lad ...although it is looking pretty grim Just imagine: first game of the season, Chelsea at home (random game against good opposition)... Grant (Butland gone to Citeh) Johnson Ryan Bruno Pieters Cameron Adam Walters (Shaq gone to a continental club) Allen Arnie Berahino We're fucked

They do get a few things right, but in recent times more wrong. I'm not saying it isn't true, but I'd lean on the side of caution with them.
