Facebook.. Message boards.. Twitter.. Etc. Certain Stoke players who are topic of conversations on here. They must be scared to turn on there phones in a morning. We all allowed a opinion but should our posts be vetted before being allowed on? Every day to be told by your family and friends what your own supporters are saying about you.

What's the difference though if they slaughtered on MOTD or in the papers anyway?

Do you really think that Eric Pieters, sitting at home in his jacuzzi with his page 3 model girlfriend, is bothered that Dave from Fenton thinks he's shit?

I suppose it can go both ways though; for instance, Ryan Shawcross was defended on social media by many of us, when the TV and papers around the world were vilifying him.

A professional should concentrate on their own performance and the advice of his coaches and NOT pay any attention to the media. No stoke player worth his salt should be looking at this board for feedback

Not sure about the players, but I've heard Tony Scholes is a broken man since you began so vocally querying the fans' free travel arrangements for away matches....😉

The match day crowd don't destroy the players. If they do start to then players' confidence will suffer. Shouldn't think players give a stuff about Twitter, Facebook, Oatcake where posters might not have been near a match in donkeys' years.

I'm not of the 'social media' generation but I don't think I will ever understand how it makes anyone feel good to type a load of abuse about another person. People come on here and type horrible vindictive nonsense about players managers et al. and yes, I'm sure they are mostly wise enough and rich enough to ignore it , but what the heck good has it done the person who posts it?? Just makes them look a bit simple as far as I can see. Reasoned criticism is fine and can be interesting , foul mouthed rants? ....a bit pathetic.

Say what you want about Pieters but if any Stoke player cares it's him. Always clapping the fans at the end and the last one down the tunnel, regardless of the result

I'd imagine a manager who hasn't got a clue how to use you properly would damage your confidence more than someone shouting pissed up from the stands or sending you a meme on Twitter.

What fans do and say on social media and particularly in the ground regarding the players, the manager and the club has an impact - either positive or negative - on the players. To think otherwise shows a lack of understanding of human nature.
The idea of players not giving a toss what fans think is worrying in itself - do we really want players (regardless of their salary) to not care about the fans and the club? If they are continually on the receiving end of abuse you can understand why they might go that way - but who's fault is that?
The atmosphere on here and the ground is starting to get divisive and toxic and its not going to end well. Last season Newcastle's much lauded fans helped them get relegated. The season before Leicester's fans helped keep them up. As things stand if we do find ourselves in a relegation battle (regardless of the manager) our fans will almost certainly see Stoke do a Newcastle. And if you don't think the fans make a difference stick to playing football manager - your ignorance of real people in the real world isn't helpful.

If fans can lift players--see the thread on the Manchester City 80th minute roar--then they can deflate players too.

The exchanges on here get a bit tasty at times and have always been polarised to some degree but this doesn't transfer to much beyond the odd boo or general grumbling at the ground - players have always had stick and they get a lot less "up close and personal" than they did when a few inches from the paddock! Players these days are no snowflakes and manage their "brand" very carefully - they won't give a toss at the rantings on here..........as mentioned above, the effect of odd / mental managerial decisions will have a far bigger effect on their psyche and general well being ( A-level Psychology - grade E :-)

Professional footballers are supposed to be just that...Professional.
That means concentrating on the job at hand and not getting sidelined by social media.
If players are going to use social media then they must be prepared to take the good and the bad comments (most is garbage anyway).
If they can't leave well alone.

How do you know Dave isn't sitting in his jacuzzi in Fenton 😂 1. I don't think Pieters' jacuzzi is in Fenton. 2. If it is, Erik would like it back and wants to know why Dave is sitting in it anyway!
