Hughes (I'm assuming) insistence to bring him and Imbula to the squad and never play them, even in the rut we've been in for 18-19 months, even in a game to prove they aren't up to scratch... Stinks to high heaven and I hope the person / people responsible get right royally fucked for it. Any player that's out of regular contention needs a run of 4-5 games to get back into the swing of things. Neither were given that. Same with Joselu. Bony was given a run of games wasn't he? Off the top of my head mate, I'd say no more than 3 before he became bench fodder?

Sid James avatar (COUPE)
I work closely with some loyal Citeh fans who warned me - Bony - 'he wasnt all that'
'touch like a baby elepahant' one said
so I think, if you look back
I wasnt that excited actually
it more smacked of desparation to me as I recall
and, as for the QPR comparisons
its looking more and more EXACTLY like what he did at Qpr

Hold on, most were jizzing themselves on here when we signed Bony. Some of us were wondering if we got the Swansea or the Man City couldn't give 2 fucks version. We got the Man City lite version. Not worthy of a place in an side let alone ours. Oxygen thief. I never expected to see the words 'lite' and 'Bony' in the same sentence! For what it's worth I slightly preferred what Bony had to offer in the dozen or so games he played for us to anything I have so far seen from Berahino in a similar number of games but Saido is our player and we have all our eggs in that basket and that one simply has to work at some level doesn't it? Did he not get dropped after we played a shit team Bournemouth personally the best one we have had who never stops running and causes chaos is Diouf but never gets a chance in his favoured position far better than Bony

Thought he played well against them and I think he has been underused. I like Crouch, but sometimes it pisses me off when he gets bullied off the ball. Bony offers something none of our other strikers do, strength in abundance.

The question you have to ask yourself is, could Wilfried Bony have done any worse than the other "strikers" Hughes has used since he was bombed out if the side?
I'd have to say no and is also wager that if he had stayed in the team he'd have more goals than anyone else and he would have held the ball up a lot better than any of the others also.

The situation is very simple to me.
The club spent the last summer transfer window trying to get Barahino and failed. They didn't/couldn't sign an alternative so they went for the next best thing, a loan.
That loan was Bony; an outstanding player at Swansea, well beyond our budget (transfer and employment costs) and let's face it very few on Oatcake were upset at that move. In fact I would say most of us were excited at the prospect.
As it turns out Bony had gone rusty at ManC, hardly used and completely out of form. It is not surprising really is it? If Andy Murray didn't play any competitive tennis for a year and only practiced, how good would he be when he returned to championship tennis. IMO probably very poor, and a long time to get back into form , and possibly never recover the world #1 slot.
So Bony got dropped, and again most posters on here were shouting for it long before it happened. Hughes gave him every chance of recovering his form.
I imagine he is simply been kept in case of injuries.

There is no situation, he played a lot of games in a row, and didn't impress. Walters and Crouch scored a few when they came in, so they got the spot. Since then, Berahino is being worked into the team, and his performances are already better than Bony aside from Swansea at home.

Hmm, there's a pattern emerging

Kept in case of injuries and because that's the deal. I agree with your summary. Think Man City got the better of this particular transaction!

Twice the record and twice the player Berahino will ever be its atrocious management the way he has been handled , Hughes himself said its a no brainer to sign him well its the mark of no brain to sign him and leave him out of the squad completely of a team thats hasn't scored away since the xmas lights were being taken down.

The stuff about China came out and then he was never seen again. It was odd.

Any player that's out of regular contention needs a run of 4-5 games to get back into the swing of things. Neither were given that. Same with Joselu. Bony had a decent run of games, and I for one felt that he "just needed a goal", then 2 came along against Swansea and I fully expected him to "kick on" and get double figures. Sadly, he didn't, and has only got himself to blame for being out of the team. It is really galling 'cos I reckon he might be the perfect foil for Saido...but if he can't be arsed I fail to see what else Hughes can do with him. Imbers is a different story altogether - there really is a 'player' in there but he seems to not want to "integrate" with the group and his decision making has proved very dodgy. I hope he can still make it, but I doubt that will be at Stoke City
