Just can't stand this twat, he makes Miranda Hart look like a comedy genius. He is just a one trick pony, always exaggerating his ethnic background. He does that "It's not rocket science" programme, When they drop fridges on him from great heights, that just miss him, a big part of me hopes one day the rope will snap and twat him one.

I think quite a few comedians are pretty shit, to be honest. As you say "one trick pony" springs to mind. I can't abide Michael MacIntyre either, or John Bishop. I much prefer Louis CK, Rich Hall and old school comedians like Tommy Cooper.

My live-in lodger/fiancee and I were mildy impressed by his comedy interjections as a guest panelist on the 'Apprentice: Youve been Fired', the after-hours programme-about-a-programme, last year.
We then decided to give his one man comedy show a go on BBC2, detailing Ramesh's hilarious travels around Sri Lanka exploring his ethnic and comic roots alongside his mother
After approximately 2 minutes, We quickly decided to turn the raw sewage that was spilling onto our supper kitchen basement viewing station off, for much the same reasons as outlined by the OP (original poster) in his OP (opening post)

I don't mind him tbh. I get that the 'race/ethnicity' comedy gets dull though. It's literally all they do, or women wittering on about eating cake ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/cj7bsBj2jOTuEAUVaPt5.gif)

Always thought he is quite witty and sharp. You don't get much from BBC promoted comedians but he's funnier than a fair few. Rather him than Russell Howard.

Good idea mate , I've got a couple of his DVDs ....they are timeless ( as good comedy is ) and never fail to make me laugh ....Sad that towards the end the alcohol affected his performances ( " I went on a whisky diet once ...I've lost 24 hours already " )

The newer comedians don't hold a torch to Tommy Cooper or Les Dawson. I have seen Rhod Gilbert...very very funny, Al Murray who was also very funny (especially when heckled), I am off to see Micky Flanagan in September. Saw Peter Kay at a charity gig in Stockport just as he was appearing on the Sunday Show on BBC2 and again he was very funny (the observational stuff is so true) I do think its an age/geography thing as well with many of the comedians I like today, most of them are still nowhere near as funny as Cooper or Dawson though.

Not many good comedian's about is there really. Frankie Boyle for me is the best though, if you follow his humour. Jimmy Carr another.

I think he is....Ok. As are most comedians. Unfair to compare to Tommy Cooper,he was one of the best ever. Vast majority of comedians when he was around were nowhere near him either.

It is easy to be over critical of comedians. We all have our own personal taste when it comes to food, music, politics etc. etc. Why should our taste in comedy be any different?
I thought Tommy Cooper and Les Dawson were both brilliant - yet I had an aunt and uncle who switched channels when either of them were on TV. Each to their own. I have been fortunate that TV arrived in my life as early as 1953 when I was 7 - and from then onwards there have always been plenty of comedians who I liked. There still are some great comedians - and plenty who I have no time for - when they appear on my TV, like my aunt and uncle before me, I switch channels or switch off.

Kevin Bridges is probably the best around now imo, other than that the rest aren't anything special. Frankie Boyle was great before he packed it in as well.. I must have a thing for the Scottish.

Billy Connolly in his dotage is still hilarious and his bonce is giving up!.

She's also a feminist, although you probably won't know because she never mentions it.. Sarah Millican is another whopper making a career out of saying she eats cake. That Shappi something or other is another unfunny female comedian. She's Iranian, but again, she keeps it under wraps. (There's probably an Iran/Women's rights/Hijab joke in there somewhere). And there's come ventriloquist cunt that I've seen. Did;t even crack a smile; the only one laughing was her.

Can't stand Romesh. Token ethnic with a downer view on the world. Comes across most of the time like the world owes him a favour. Can't be doing with him.
Bill Bailey is a class act though. Saw him live at Sonisphere 2011. Likes his cider, and is a bit strange.

Saw Sarah Millican at the Machynlleth comedy festival a couple of years ago along with some other wannabees trying their worst. A word of warning to anyone tempted to go in the future, DON'T. Trades description act flagrantly abused.
