What I don't understand is if Mexico is such a booming place with new car and electronics plants etc (as Trump claims) why do so many want to get into the United States where their prospects are often abysmal? I've heard of entire towns in Texas, New Mexico and even as far north as Tennessee being swamped with Mexican immigrants. Why?

I've heard of entire towns in Texas, New Mexico and even as far north as Tennessee being swamped with Mexican immigrants. Why? Mexican's can't afford the things they make mostly. Real poverty forces people into dangerous crossings. There are towns swarmed with migrant labor but recently it is a reverse trend as companies from the US move operations into bordertowns and ship it into US much cheaper. Most trucks, cars, electronics are half made in Mexico and then assembled in US. People like getting into the US for the benefits and ability for their children. Most companies have clamped down on hiring illegals because of huge penalties if found. It is a complicated issue not easily solved with a wall, but it sounds nice.

I am intrigued now, 96 ounce Steaks and lassoing Arsenal fans I guess my question TexasPotter is are you a real cowboy, do you have a horse and shoot things/people/newly formed border walls? (I heard good gear gets lobbed over the fence now) I can ride a horse, shoot guns and I own cowboy hats and boots! I'm not a cattle rustler 24/7 only well off or ranch hands do that these days sadly. But I'm hoping to one day own some land out here and live the good life. I own more guns than a lineup if you must know. Yea the cartels actually use trebuchet's, drones and even birds to carry drugs to mules. Coyote's and scouts cover the hills and roads near the border even 150 miles in! Occasionally while riding or even driving I have come across small groups of migrants crossing awful terrain. Mostly they run, but the ones who they leave behind I typically help with water, direction and leave them survival notes which in itself is a dangerous game of being caught by ICE myself or attacked by a larger group. (I always have my friends Smith and Wesson with me) People are cruel and desperate people get used more than any other. Tells you the mentality of many of their own people using their own for greed. My problem is only with the Mexican Govt and the hardened criminals they let loose and tell to "Go to the US" to send back money no matter what they do over the otherside. I enjoy going into border-towns during the day, but at night it is very dangerous. Certain areas are no go zones for even locals let alone Americans others are tourist havens. Juarez being the worst. I went once and the Federales spotted me and my bud and forcibly removed us for our own safety once for a fee Sometimes you can hear gunfire in the barrios of juarez at night. I love this part of the world but like anyhwere else has it problems and they seemingly go in circles, the border has always been a hotspot.

I travel to Texas twice a month. If you want to sit in traffic for 4 hours a day while your climate changing SUV adds a couple of degrees to the earths atmosphere until you get back to your legoland f off McMansion.. it's the place to be!

Houston? If so that place is a zoo. I steer clear if I can. I prefer Central and SW Texas myself. Dallas, Austin and Houston are vastly different then you have old San Antonio. I love New Orleans are you in the city?
