A sure sign that too much money can rot talent.

he had a few decent games and netted a handful of goals.
he's exactly why TP wants players with the right attitude.
nowhere near as good as he (and some on here) thinks he is, and a complete waster.

The worst thing about the £900K is not the money itself, big money moves often don't work out and he had bags of talent, it's the fact that the man was a known flake when we pissed it up the wall and if ever a man was more unsuited to changing his ways it was Boskamp.
Then again there are parallels with the Parkin deal but at least he turns up even if we wish he didn't.

lordb,
I don't think he was better than Thorne, although Thorne was injury prone. Mind you Bangoura was disappearance prone!

The man in your Avatar, Irish, is a far better all round player than Bangoura IMHO.

Just think how good Fuller could be if he was a proper 'striker', who could head the ball, get on the end of crosses and score ugly goals?
He's still great though.

I'm with Irish on this one - total plonker of course (Sam B - not Irish ) but a finisher nevertheless.
Maybe he'd have become as wank here as he obviously has elsewhere since though but the glimpses of him suggested he could have gone on to do really well with his head "in gear" of course.

Yeah, Fuller's finishing goes from the sublime to Sidibe-esque, whereas Bangoura was very much a goalscorer.
I remember an interview with Kemp last season where he was saying they were constantly trying to work on getting Fuller to operate as more of of a traditional striker, and tuning himself into getting on the end of crosses and being in positions to score ugly poacher's goals (to complement the goals he'll always score through his own magic) - obviously to no avail.
He's a bit like Henry really, isn't he? All his goals are pretty much all his own work.

I'm still gutted that Sam never made it at Stoke - he was certainly the best striker I've seen since Thorne, and certain Premiership player. How we could do with someone with his quality now.
Entirely his own fault of course. I expect he'll look back at all his wasted career opportunities in a few years time and realise what a mess he made of it.

agreed with some people on here - bangora was a class act on his day easily the best striker potentially i've seen since stein but was a complete idiot and deserves his career to rot with his attitude. Fuller is a very good striker and easily our best at the moment but he does lack that "killer instinct" that bangora and stein had, whilst fuller makes more for the rest of the team he'll never head the ball from the edge of the 18 yard box into the goal or score a stunner a la lawrence at newcastle. I still love the man all things considered though! ;D

Let’s steady on a bit here, he did show glimmers very early in his stay here of being outstanding but he scored one goal in his last 15 games for Stoke. Comparisons with Stein are verging on the ridiculous I’d say.

He was at best average and benefitted from some shocking goalkeeping errors in his first few games. Did nothing after the initial burst, once defenders had been made aware of his threat. I actually thought his name was "8goal bangoura", he was stuck there for so long. A waste of money and not fit to wear the shirt (of any pro football team).
