And the other three players who didn't put in a challenge. With Arnie doing a passable impression of Charlie Cairoli on the night, he seemed by far and away the most likely to make something happen.

Need to keep him on corners too

Really? I thought he was poor - way too many blind passes
What a state our midfield is in

I do like his attitude

Really? I thought he was poor - way too many blind passes What a state our midfield is in He did everything that the rapidly degrading Whelan could do defensively and obviously offers far more going forward. Bearing in mind that we're now in the utterly risible position that Cameron is completely indispensable in there, you can't play him and Whelan, allied to the fact that the manager has majorly fucked up with analysing what sort of player Joe Allen is and you can see why Charlie gets picked. I could see some merit in resting him against Liverpool but against the sides we should be beating, like Hull, he'd be a shoe in for me.

I've not exonerated the others.... with the exception of Ryan who I'm failing to understand how he really could have done anything. Charlie was no better than anyone else.... only a little bit slower.

Story of our season:

He is a good player, past his best I do like his attitude Yeah, and if attitude was everything, Jon Walters would play every game and be the leading goal scorer in the Premier League. It's not.... attitude is merely one side of football and while it's important (look at what a prick Bony appears to be), you need to have some tangible skill, ability...... and pace. The first two Adam has..... the last one he quite evidently doesn't. His fitness is pretty shit as well.

The fact Charlie Adam fell over or the fact we're currently the laughing stock of the Premier League? Both maybe....?

Like I said fella, it just goes to show what a state our midfield is in. None of them should be starting right now

I wish he'd have tried harder with their goal. Awful from him.

I thought effort & commitment was fine, good even, from all the players last night (unlike Saturday)
utter lack of quality however.

There was no lack of effort from any of our players last night. Their frustration at what was unfolding mirrored those of the supporters in attendance.

Awful yesterday but one of many who were. Him and Arnautovic stood out as having nightmare games.

1/10 for his improvised corner-kick routine
1/10 for his non-challenge on Hendrick, leading to their goal
5/10 overall

He seemed pretty central most of the time but I'd have to watch it again. And if we're playing that game, where was Erik? Or one of the other CMs who should be tracking runners from deep?

Their goal came from the right hand side of the pitch and the goalscorer was in a position just right of centre when he scored. Why exactly would Erik Pieters, playing in a left wing back role, be on hand to clear that danger?

Adam was massively better than Golden Boy Joe Allen on the night. Any other opinion is just agenda driven nonsense.

I can't believe this thread. For me charlie adam was one of our worst players last night. He was dire and should have been hooked after about 50 mins.
His passing is shite, he can't tackle and his level of fitness is nothing short of a disgrace. If Imbula defended as bad as charlie did for the goal there would have been hell up on here.
It's time to move charlie on in the summer

Adam was massively better than Golden Boy Joe Allen on the night. Any other opinion is just agenda driven nonsense. Allen was shit. Again. Hughes doesn't know what he is, I'm fucked if I know, and the headless chicken, cover-every-blade-of-grass game that Allen's employing, suggests that he's not sure either* * on that note, I see Imbula has been in the paper today stating that it's not been made clear to him, what's expected of him out on the pitch.

I agree Dave (as I've said in that post if you cared to read it properly), that's why BMI has to do deal with it and not Muni, again as I've said.
