Just read on Twitter that the first proper 'Hughes Out' chant was heard this afternoon.
Can anyone offer more details on this?
Can't remember ever hearing this for TP, even in the grim final weeks of his reign. The dissent in the ranks spreads further with every passing week, although you suspect that the level-headed Coatesy would be unlikley to be swayed too much by moaning fans. Thankfully, I think our chairman would be guided more by his own judgement of whether Hughes is the right man- and I suspect he's still very much onside.
Two tough games coming up though, and bad results in those could see the atmosphere get a bit ugly.

Hughes out chants....
We've turned into the very fans we used to mock. Pathetic.

It's you who's been wetting his knickers for the last six months!

I didn't hear anything like that at all. In fact, our supporters sang his name even when we were 2-0 down.

It wasn't that loud and there weren't many chanting, but we did hear it. It was soon drowned out by chants supportive of Hughes.

Yes, there were a few people shouting "Hughes Out" where we were sat in Block M2. Two or three blokes were having a proper argument at one point. The few shouts were drowned out by the majority.

Such an unfairly simplistic view of the angle many have who don't want him sacked. Everything is NOT fine and I DON'T want him sacked.

He's lost the plot and needs replacing in the Summer. The only surprise today was keeping Leicester down to two.

I wouldn't actively call for his sacking, but on the other hand I wouldn't be bothered if he went. Can't remember a really enjoyable game all season, there have been the odd good half, only to be followed by a half of hanging on and lack of ambition.

I'd like to think that the Hughes Out stuff on here doesn't represent the majority of the 25,000 Stoke fans in the ground. There's no getting away from the fact that today was a bad performance and it's been a bit of a dull and disappointing season. However, I'd hope that most people have memories longer than 5 minutes and haven't whipped themselves up into such frenzied heights on social media that they can't see any way of backing down. For me, there shouldn't even be a question about Hughes's postion until the day we actually are in a proper relegation battle. Sitting 9th in the league and some (but by no means all) of the performances being a bit shit isn't a justifiable reason for sacking a manager with a really good track record.

Oh it is but that's how TD has painted it on here. It was an entirely sarcastic remark at someone moving the goalposts massively.

Lets not let a still unfathomably healthy league position distarct us. This team is structurally fucked but anyone chanting Hughes out needs fucking with a rusty spoon.

It was an entirely sarcastic remark at someone moving the goalposts massively. You don't half talk some bollocks. In the grand scheme of things, we've finished 9th three years on the trot, and are STILL in the top-half of the table this year. At the moment, there are things that aren't right with the team that need addressing. That's something I've never had a problem with people pointing out- I too acknowledge that money has been wasted, tactics have been flawed at times and mistakes have been made. The point that you don't seem able to grasp is that I, and many others, can live with the imperfections without having a big flapping 'Hughes Out!'hissy-fit every 10 minutes. How exactly is that 'moving the goalposts'?

I wouldn't call for his head but his position should surely be under review. It's been a pretty turgid season and the football has been every bit as bad as the previous manager served up.
Early cup exits against mediocre opposition hasn't helped at all. Hughes's big money signings haven't worked out either.
The question is can the manager turn it around in The Summer? Can he get the right signings in to produce a team that plays good football but has far more energy and pace. I have to say I have real doubts that he can.

How exactly is that 'moving the goalposts'? Because you refer to it as a hissy fit and knicker wetting when we've had chants of Hughes out and as you say it could turn nasty. That's not a hissy fit or knicker wetting, it's where we're getting. I just called it out sooner than others.

Sitting 9th in the league and some (but by no means all) of the performances being a bit shit isn't a justifiable reason for sacking a manager with a really good track record. I agree. Pros: I like him. He's got 8 top 10s with small clubs. I think his profile is perfect for a club like us. The wider world would think we were barmy. All in all, it'd take something extreme for me to want us to take the nuclear option with all that going for us. But some evidence of a new Hughes 2.0 plan wouldn't go amiss, and he's certainly keeping us waiting. Our latest £15m man's start, and apparent lack of idea about how to get him going, is making me twitch uncomfortably on my golden 'Hughes In' throne as I can't see it coming together if the Saido signing joins his list of failures. Just hope he doesn't go the same way as Imbers. We've got £30m tied up in those 2, and they're currently offering about as much on the pitch as me and you. We're going to have more than a third of the squad leaving this summer, and it's probably only natural to question whether he's the guy you want overseeing the rebuild when the last 12 months has been so haphazard. I'm hoping the last 8 games puts my mind at rest, but I'm starting to think (for the first time) it could swing it the other way if things go very badly.
