60 eh, death can't be far away now When Turkey floods them with a million more economic migrants the EU will choke to death on Merkels open door promise's, Greece is at crisis point, Italy not far off, Spain is in the economic shit etc., they will little choice but to accept Turkey into their union, rock and a hard place spring too mind, without our contribution they will collapse into the black hole of failed dictatorships.

"The tide turned in the 2000s, though it’s still quite hard to pinpoint precisely why. Immigration? Economics? Euro-crises? Elitism? Complacency? Boredom? Or perhaps simply that those who talked down the EU were just better at doing so than those who talked it up."
Or perhaps the unelected few steering the ship fell asleep at the wheel and the passengers that could see the ice berg coming shouted for all their worth but the comatosed captains, drunk on power, ploughed straight ahead on to Impending doom. It should take about 15 more years but at least some passengers from other countries will have the sense to jump ship before it sinks.

More EU love-in bollocks. Indian shops and take-aways, chinese shops and take-aways, thai restaurants, jamaican shops, islamic shops, mosques and much much more. In my eyes we are not very european. We are a country open to the world not just the EU. We are much more than a european country.

The arguments being made before the crash are the same arguments that were made during brexit. Many people felt ignored and the EU was steering the ship. The status quo had gone on far too long and the EU could have done something about it but didn't.

Totally agree with you, I would have happily voted to remain if I thought we could have changed course but the stubborn few that aren't accountable and have all the power won't/haven't/refuse to listen and as a result I voted out. Even if it takes 10 years, which it won't, it will be worth it because in that time the EU will get even more bureaucratic and dysfunctional, they will only change when they see another European country that's outside the EU thriving and even then it will probably take them another decade to get the message.

Sorry* to throw a bucket of cold economic reality over your feverish wet dream chum but:-
1) The Spanish economy is growing at about 3% and has been for going on a year. It is outperforming the UK in that regard and will continue to do so this year. NB UK Economic growth - 2014 - 3.1%, 2015 - 2.2% 2016 - 2.0%
2) In 2016 economic growth in the Eurozone outpaced the US economy. It is forecasted to continue recovery over the next two years. If Trump's "funny money" deficit spending plans come to fruition there will be a significant trickle down boost to Western economies as a whole.
3) See what my lefty comrades at the FT have to say Stop Press! News of imminent Eurozone demise greatly exaggerated!
4) With any luck, and with a bit of joined up thinking from Trump and Putin, daesh will be defeated territorially this year and a peace settlement will be imposed on the remaining combatants in Syria. The perceived Syrian refugee "problem" will then start to abate.
5) On May 7th Emmanuel Macron will defeat your fascist friends in the FN and the tide of dangerous populism will start to recede.
Sure, it isn't all rosy in the Eurozone. There are banking problems in Portugal and, more severely, in Italy. Greece's membership of the Euro, as it stands, is particularly problematic. However, given the political will, these issues are not terminal. A couple of years of economic growth and political calm following the German election might just be the ticket. Use it to sort out Italy and Portugal whilst continuing to kick the Greece can down the road a while yet.
Surely, BREXIT or not, all good British patriots want the EU and single market to stabilise and succeed. It will, after all, remain our biggest single export market for some years to come. At least, that is, until all these lucrative free trade deals with Nicaragua, Mali and Nauru etc. come to fruition.
In other news the sun continues to shine.
