Surely to old and doesn't say a lot for our younger English forwards?

Surely to old and doesn't say a lot for our younger English forwards? Is there some new rule that means we lose points for older players. I'm glad you were not around in Matthew's day we would never have got to see the Matthew's final in 1953! 😁

Regardless of his age, if he's still scoring the amount he is at such a terrible side bottom of the league, I'd say he still has a couple of years left in him.

Rather Defoe than Rooney.

Good for a season but no more. Should have signed him years ago

He got dropped from the England /spurs squad when the " fashion " was to have taller stronger forwards. If England had not dropped him earlier it was another dimension to our squad, we try to follow the " football fashion " too much here and thats why England always dissapoint. Play our own game, our way and play the best. Hes a class nippy striker as was my boyhood hero Steino. That type of player is what stoke have been crying out for , for years too.

No striker in the world would score 20 goals a season for us, given the way we set up.

If Sunderland go down, and Jermaine wants to get in the squad for the world cup next year he will have to stay in the league. Could be a shout, he could do a job for us as we could for him. Imagine with his and Arnie's, Ramadan's and Shaqiri's vision that as a front 4 could do some damage. Plus he might start alongside his pal Crouch again.

A striker always looking to do the defender with a perfectly timed run or bit of movement .
A striker always looking to pick his spot and role the ball into the net, rather than lash at it .
Absolute quality

He doesn't dither in front of goal like Alli did last night, or miss the target, age has got nothing to do with nerve it only slows you down a bit......or a lot in my case.
When you are good at something you get a confident swagger about you, Defoe has that swagger, Hughes had it and hopefully when fit Kane has it because yet again we lost a match because no one in the England side last night has that swagger.
When you don't have it you dither and get nervous......then miss.

A goal scoring machine. The finest natural finisher of his generation.
I would definitely have taken him to Euro 2016, initially as an option from the bench. The way Kane and Sturridge performed though, he would have become first choice.

If you are good enough you are equally old, and young enough to play. Defoe is one of very few natural goal-scorers in the Premiership.

reckon he will go back to WHU.
or, Bournemouth could be an option for him, had a very successful loan spell there

How has doesn't have more caps is beyond me. Absolute natural, and a pleasure to watch. Even when we was at Bournemouth in 2000/1 and scored against us home and away.
