Have to say my biggest feeling coming away from the match was dirty niggling Chelsea bastards, if they want to win the title like that they're welcome to it - but I also thought Sparky did a pretty decent job today against brutally good opposition. Still those training ground defensive flaws show up though, without them we were worth a draw imho but I don;t feel like we've lost too much momentum and that's vital for the run-in.
On balance it's 8* from me
add * if you were at the game please

Made Grant not save at his near post and made Pieters pass it to a Chelsea player in his 6 yard box.
Oh and is also mark hughes.

8* about right
Maybe could have brought on Affelay as the last sub?
I thought we'd done enough to earn a point

9* No shame in that display. Top of the table adopting extreme cynicism because they were frit of our football.
Frustrating we didn't turn that second half pressure into a goal.

Quite a few teams have been steam rollered both home & away by Chelsea this season.
We weren't
Set the team up correctly and gave them a game

Dirty, niggling Chelsea bastards I can agree with, but let's not pretend we were choirboys for the duration of that game. They tried to bully us, and we stood strong and gave it back in spades. Costa flopped all over the show, but let's not pretend SJW didn't collapse under the weight of a deep breath from the defender to get us the penalty. It was a battle, and we acquitted ourselves very well. We lost the game due to a couple of individual errors. It happens, and we move on.
8 from me for Hughes. Right selection, decent tactically, and for the second consecutive game he ensured we didn't capitulate against one of the elite teams. Not really sure what more he could have done to be honest.

Should have brought fresh legs on earlier when we were tiring.
A point was there for the taking.

8* could maybe have gone 1 on 1 with fibreglass by bringing on Affelay, but overall a great set up. Looking forward to next season with a fully fit Berahino.

Didn't mind it myself honestly Thoroughly enjoyed it myself too Sal, and it seemed to bring the crowd to life for the first time in a while. I'm not suggesting I would prefer a return to some of the stone-age football of a certain previous manager, but I much prefer a Stoke side that has some physical menace. If Hughes can find the right balance of clogging and carpet football, we'll be in business.

Gave up after the first 20 minutes so wouldn't be fair to rate.
We capitulated. To a top half team. Yet again. The season's nearly over and we haven't beaten anyone from the top half of the table. Shite.

We deserved a point today. Great performance just a shame we couldnt hold on for 1 1. I would have taken Peiters off and brought on affelay late on. Great support from the fans today . Great atmosphere

9* we stood toe to toe with a team that are top of the premiership.
I for one came away from the ground feeling gutted & in a sense robbed.
We didn't deserve to lose that game & any negativity shown against our team & manager is laughable.
Some of our so called support need to have a reality check & maybe go & follow a team like Chelsea & their limitless millions!

8* about right Maybe could have brought on Affelay as the last sub? I thought we'd done enough to earn a point I said the same about bringing on Afellay with about 15 minutes to go, Janet. His ability to retain the ball is better than most of our attackers and might have resulted in us spending less time in our own half as the game got to squeeky bum time. He's also (since his return from injury) shown a welcome willingness to shoot on sight from just outside the box - that might have paid dividends in our final attack when none of our players seemed willing to shoot until Ramadan sliced the ball so it nearly went out for a throw in. 8* from me. One good thing about yesterday was that it clarified the need for a couple of young, technically competent, full backs - Luke Shaw could be an option, he's wanting away from Man Utd. Tripper from Spurs on the other flank would be just as exciting although I'm not sure Spurs would be willing to let him go even though he gets distressingly little game time for someone so gifted who should be entering his peak years.

This must be a new definition of "giving up" - probably has its roots Somewhere in Donald Trump's White House!

I felt after 70 mins he should have made changes as we were far too deep and had no outlet
Would have taken Bera off sooner, he was knackered
Personally I would have gone back to 451 with Aff as no 10 and Crouch up top to see the game out, but to be fair we lost from a mistake
7*

Winning against Chelsea was always going to be difficult but all in all the players put up a great battle but my feelings are that Hughes could have started with a better team. I cannot see why Walters is still being picked in the team. Does he have pace? Can he take the ball past a player? Is he a danger through the channels? Is his control and technical skill good? Is he a prolific goal scorer? It is five years since Hughes took the job! Walters shouldn't be anywhere near the first eleven. Hughes's first substitution was to bring Diouf on to the pitch. So at a time when we should have been wanting to win he takes off Berahino and we have Diouf and Walters as our initial strike force although Arnautovic and Diouf soon exchange positions. At the time of this change Chelsea had changed to a four four two. The Stoke team were beginning to sit deeper and deeper and we're looking nothing like an offensive team.IMO Hughes's substitution was a poor decision. Berahino should not have been taken off! Afellay should have come on for Walters. His athleticism, movement and good passing ability would have given the team a lift when it was needed. Why wasn't Shaqiri at least on the bench? Arnautovic needs someone of this nature to pick out his dangerous runs. All in all when many are praising Hughes for yesterday's performance I can only be critical. Wrong team selection and poor game management!
