Weird timing. Its been an uneasy relationship since well before promotion. Think they've waited too long to pull the trigger fooled by their position outside the relegation places despite insipid performances for most of the season. They've done the classic knee jerk reaction to staring relegation in the face when the makings of it have been apparent for a considerable time. Should have got rid in December or at the very latest when he had one of his many rumoured walkout/tantrums whilst the window was open. Don't think he's any loss but it will most probably too late to change their destiny.

44th managerial change of the season apparently.
Can it catch up with the 66 last year?
Or the 63 the year before?

But Aitor always said that Middlesborough needed more quality but he was denied the transfer funds? Manager made the scapegoat for the owner's tight fistedness?

Desperate time call for desperate measures. Gibson has given him as long as he can and needs to do something before the trap door opens.
Maybe it will "wake-up" the squad like Leicester's.
Can't imagine who would want the job.

Just had a text from a relative who is a Boro fan and Pearson is favourite apparently. Mclaren built his reputation there, but would they have him back? I guess there are always those who will take anything to put bread on the table, but I was thinking of a more "attractive" manager.

Pearson was the first one I thought of. Probably the only one who might give them a fighting chance.

Wow is that just the football & Prem league? Those figures astound me actually if so EFL and Premier League pretty sure That's insane if true. There are only 92 league clubs. It means that in the last couple of seasons only 1/3 of all league clubs have kept the same manager all season.

Those figures astound me actually if so They shouldn't really, the average tenure for a manager in English league football is just over one year.

Nutters like the bloke at Derby change managers as often as they change their y-fronts.

I didn't think Middlesborough were a bad side when we faced them on the opening day of the season and I commented to their fans afterwards, that if that is the norm for their team, they won't go down. I've seen several worse teams during our years in the Premier League than the Boro side that played us on the opening day of the season.
They've picked up some decent results this season and for me, there are worse teams than them. Maybe that is there thinking here. Perhaps they are a better side than their negative manager allows them to be.

They should have sacked him in May
that sounds bonkers given they got promoted but the relationship with the board was clearly toxic (& given this Gibson we are talking about have to point the finger at Karanka for that) & that can only go one way

Wow is that just the football & Prem league? Those figures astound me actually if so The average job span of a championship manager is 9 months Fair enough fellas, I knew we had a large turnaround but had no clue it was THAT high...Sure nutters like Cellino at Leeds and Abramovich but I mean 2/3's of all managers is a lot of sackings -- and a lot of golden handshakes! Must start getting insanely expensive for the clubs near the bottom of the pyramid.
