Gone are the days where footballers lived in the local area or put-me-ups with real families while they settled into their new club and surroundings.
Do you think that our current crop know the area quite well or have no genuine interest in the city that, essentially, they represent in football?
At a guess I'd say that the likes of Walters, Crouch and Shawcross are more likely to be spotted up 'anley duck, than Shaq or Arnie are.
I still find it slightly bizarre that most days they spend their time down at Trent Vegas in the week.

You find it bizarre that they go to the training ground? No, I find it bizarre that it's tucked away in a housing estate, a little road in between two houses either side taking you to a multi-million pound sports complex.

Why aren't these over-paid prima donnas being made to back the city's City of Culture 2021 Bid and was it a PR stunt when TP took the WBA squad to Donna Louise this week........ sort of overtaking our players in the charity profile stakes ?

I think they should have regular meet n greets in places like the Potteries Centre, the local pro team near to where my mate lives in the Philippines did one in a shopping mall there last week, went down a storm, can't do any harm and it's not as tho' they don't get paid well enough.
I certainly think they should get out and about and meet the fans in some way anyway, they might even enjoy it.

It's not that long ago that you had players like Mama living in Meir Hay, or even Fuller and Lawrence living not so far away in Wychwood Park. Not as far away as the countryside footballervilles that some of our current players live in, anyway.
It doesn't really make much of a difference in the grand scheme of things, though.
