They have 3 tough games coming up that could see them with 0 points. Is this our opportunity to get past them?

That surely has to be the goal for the end of the season, bit of a tinpot aim but it's probably the only thing we have left to care about. A good run of results from now til the end of the season, possibly including a win over Arsenal or Liverpool, that'd be best case for me.

A point against Chelsea and win the next two would put us where we want to be.

A bigger question would be can we hold off Southampton and west ham.
We will almost certainly pass WBA.

Stolen my thunder a bit there, I was just doing a bit of analysis on this to post... 56 points is the most that's been necessary for 8th position in the last ten years. It's also what WBA are on course for. 52 is the average necessary, so I've included that too. Obviously we need a pretty major improvement and for Brazil to drop off a bit too. The thing that sticks out in our favour is the number of top seven teams the others still have to play - also worth noting that the three we still have to come are all at home... it's certainly doable.

We should aim for more than just bragging rights. Still be chuffed with 8th mind.

It's going to be a struggle to get into 8th and teams around us now have games in hand!

Already said this on another thread; I hope that Everton beat them on Saturday . If they do we are in with a chance of overtaking them as they have a very tough April, including the two Manchester clubs and Liverpool.
We also have an interesting April but not impossible situation with Leicester and Burnley away, and Liverpool at home. Not easy games but we are capable of getting some results, to enable us to go above them and hopefully stay there.
As last night anything out of the Chelsea game will be a bonus, but not impossible.

Hypothetically we could finish 15th and still claim that "accolade". I'd rather finish 7th or 8th, and have West Brom finish above us (as unlikely as that scenario is) instead of finishing 9th and being the top Midlands team.

They have Everton, Arsenal, the shit, Southampton, Liverpool and Man City in their next 7 games.
Plenty of those will be 'bonus' games.

There are 4 mini leagues in the Premier League:
Top 6 - pretty much untouchable on a regular basis due to their wealth relative to everyone else
Upper mid (4-6 depends on the season) - much more fluid membership but we're starting to establish ourselves in this group. Like it or not topping this league on a regular basis is our realistic target
Lower mid (4-6 depending on the season) - as above but relegation a more realistic prospect. Where we were under Pulis
Relegation Fodder (4-6 depending on the season) - newly promoted teams, those that have never quite made the transition and established clubs where something has gone wrong behind the scenes, Thankfully we look well out of this for the moment.
I'd love us to do a Leicester- or even nick a Champion's League slot. It would be a dream season. But there is absolutely no way I'm ever going to be disappointed by the prospect of finishing 8th in the Premier league. If I did I would really need to have a long hard look at myself in the mirror - and repeat "Scunthorpe Away" three times for added grounding

Possible, but not likely. We could catch Everton, but we won't.

Baggies remaining fixtures:
11 Mar 2017 3pm Everton v WBA 18 Mar 2017 3pm WBA v Arsenal 1 Apr 2017 3pm Manchester United v WBA 4 Apr 2017 7.45 pm Watford v WBA 8 Apr 2017 3pm WBA v Southampton 15 Apr 2017 3pm WBA v Liverpool 22 Apr 2017 3pm Manchester City v WBA 29 Apr 2017 3pm WBA v Leicester City 6 May 2017 3pm Burnley v WBA 13 May 2017 3pm WBA v Chelsea 21 May 2017 3pm Swansea City v WBA
compared to ours:
18/03/2017 15:00 Chelsea (h) 01/04/2017 15:00 Leicester City (a) 04/04/2017 19:45 Burnley (a) 08/04/2017 15:00 Liverpool (h) 15/04/2017 15:00 Hull City (h) 22/04/2017 15:00 Swansea City (a) 29/04/2017 15:00 West Ham United (h) 06/05/2017 15:00 A.F.C. Bournemouth (a) 13/05/2017 15:00 Arsenal (h) 21/05/2017 15:00 Southampton (a)
They have to play 6 of the 7 teams above them, so I'd say overall they'll drop enough points to enable us to catch them - if we're good enough! I can see us both finishing with around 50 points - could be close...

Is it right. That should the shit win the Europa 8th place would get you into Europe !? Only if they finish outside the top four and a team finishing in the top four wins the FA Cup. Basically, if the league finishes as it stands now, Man United win the Europa League and one of Chelsea, Spurs or Citeh won the cup then Arsenal, Everton and WBA would be in the Europa League. Which would not be cool!

I've heard tone gets score updates from our games from his backroom staff on the touchline.
Tone doesn't target any league position. He's focusing on finishing above us no matter what position.

I'm of the opinion we are gonna go on a decent run now. Its time to unleash berahino every game, stick with sobhi, diouf and cameron, we need some fitness and desire. The team really seemed to care last night and want positivity. Good signs.

In the final analysis, I think we will rue the six points lost with those late equalisers at home to WBA, Leicester, and Man U.
