This competition has blipped off the radar for me since they spun it off to some pay channels.
Does anyone actually still follow it and is it still a big deal? I think Arsenal are playing tonight chasing what we hope will be a lost cause. Other than that I couldn't even tell you which English teams are still in it!
It always seems a shame to me when something goes 'pay only', its kind of like 95% of the nation clock out and with that the magic has gone.

I'm like you. I haven't watched a single champions league game since it went to BT sport.
To be perfectly honest I haven't missed it one bit.

Is that where it's hiding then? I think I might have BT Sport as part of my Broadband package but I never looked but if no one else is watching I don't really see the point, we're not in it and its not like friends and work colleagues are talking about it anymore so its kind of gone for me.

The champions league is really boring - if it were a cup it would be better, but it isn't, it's just dull, even in the knockout stages it has little interest. Of course it's be great if we ever got in it though, mind!

agree 100% - used to be a good buzz about the comp when on ITV 5/6 years ago!

Well, yeah, that goes without saying, I'd work out how to access BT Sport then of course, when I say gone, I mean in the national psyche, clearly it remains a valid competition for the fans of clubs which are in it. I think it is now a compromised one though. This is how they killed cricket, greed, right after England had won the ashes back after year and years too!

Very true the final nail in the coffin would be the pan-european league. That would kill it for me. It's true abut cricket, I used to follow it religiously but now I couldn't even tell you who opens the batting for England

I think you're missing out. It's still a great competition.
Where else could you watch Barcelona and Arsenal take a full on pumping like they did in the 1st leg?

Had already stopped taking any interest when it was still on ITV, I used to love it in the 70's & 80's when it was just the champions from each country, then a clash between say Liverpool and Real Madrid would be rare event to be looked forward to. The change in format did exactly what it was intended to do i.e. virtually guarentee the big clubs involvement but the result was Barcelona v Arsenal two or three times every season boring

The media actually think football fans are interested in it thinking it's good for the game if " our teams " do well
Personally I hope all the English teams in it get fucked as it benefits nobody other than the teams involved

From next season it is only on bt sport. Not even ITV highlights. So unless you have bt sport you won't see any.

I watch the odd game, though group games and first legs are generally tedious affairs.
Tend to watch second legs as the competition progresses, especially when the scores are close.
In recent years it has shown the Premier League up to the standard that it is though, in spite of the constant shite you hear spouted about it on Sky.

Looking forward to watching Arsenal v B Munich on BT Sport. I appreciate that I have to pay but I have a deal and as a result it costs me £2.50 a month which is less than half a pint. FFS live a little there are no pockets in shrouds!

FFS live a little there are no pockets in shrouds! You must either go to some classy watering holes or be in the toilet every time it's someone's turn to get a round in! Either that or I've just slept for 10 years and a pint now costs £5 😬😬

A load of bollocks that Barca or Bayern always end up winning. I've had more exciting shits. Except that they don't really, do they? They've only won it 6 times between them since 2000. Before that though Barcelona's previous win was in '92 (at the old Wembley) and Bayern Munich's was all the way back in '76. I'd love to know how you qualify that as "always end up winning".

The cup winners cup was ace ...... with 'old school' ties like Bruges v Eintracht Frankfurt. Loved watching it on Sportsnight as a nipper, usually a treat from the fossils on a Wednesday night
