at this time I was on a train to London and had one of the most enjoyable days in my life.
On the train back home that evening I was as proud as I have ever been as a Stoke fan.

Happy anniversary everyone.
I travelled in the back of a packed transit van. A great day.
And it broke down on the M1 on the way back. Was anyone bothered? Nahhhh!

Gives me goose bumps, thanks so much for posting. Just a little before my time as the first match I ever attended was at the beginning of the 1977 season. Any idea who the TV commentator was?

And I was there!n. But let's face it the majority of idiot comments on thevOatcake these days come from "supporters" who have never seen the Good days of the 70's through the really bad times and have only been fed with the success of the last few years.

From memory there were around 25 football specials. The one i went on was from Stone and the train fare was £3.25. A great day - just 17 at the time. Maybe one day a repeat performance?
Decent win today.
