Am I mad as he looks nowhere near the side but could Imbula be a far better option in the advanced midfirlder role that Allen is currently filling. He may not be great defensively but he does look good with the ball at his feet and with Bera up front is more likely to be pushing us forward from deep. Won't happen but just a thought. I'm still convinced there's a very good footballer there.

I think the way Hughes has handled Imbula has been shit and I've said from day one he should be given a chance to get back into form. Unfortunately, I can't see that happening this season and then think Hughes will sell him in the summer which will piss me off. Cameron will be back in the midfield before Imbula gets another chance.

Perhaps if he could grow up and show the same maturity as sobhi he might get a game?

He's no worse than our other midfielders.
Get him in the team.

He's got to replace either Whelan and Adam at some point?
Please Hughes let it be the Boro game.

Perhaps if he could grow up and show the same maturity as sobhi he might get a game? Not so very long ago the news from the club was he was knuckling down !, sounds like another Wolfy style ear infection statement if you ask me. He has been here over 12 months and is not starting games or rarely used as a sub. something is seriously amiss here.

He's no worse than our other midfielders. Get him in the team. He has to be starting games between now and the end of the season, if not I think we can safely assume Mark and his team have given up on their record signing, Joe Allen is never a No 10 he never has been and never will be at PL level.

In an ideal world he could concentrate on what he is good at and leave the nuts and bolts to the DMs.
We really do need a beast of a defensive midfielder with mobility. This isn't having a go at Glen..he has been a fantastic servant but age is really starting to catch up with him.
I haven't thought too much until today but it's really hit home how many over 30s Hughes is still relying on.
The game has moved on from 1978 when Forest won the league with a team full of old uns.

Amazing before he was left out he was a worse signing than Kitson and Palacios. Now hes better than Hudson and Greenhoff rolled in to one.

I can see your point but I'm thinking that Allen's ability to get around the pitch could be more beneficial to us with Imbula in the team. With Allen AND Cameron having the ability to cover the ground it gives Imbula more licence to express himself I think.

I don't know what we are trying to achieve by just leaving him out in the cold? The lad obviously needs the game time to try and get him up to speed else what was the point of the transfer in the fost place?
The alternative is to let him go for whatever we can get and take the hit financially.
He's not going to get any better just tossed to one side is he?
*I speak as someone who said he wouldn't play him again after the Wolves game so I'm a massive hypocrite. For the record...

I just think if Berahino is going to play we need to give him a decent chance by attacking at pace. That will never happen with the 3 out there today. 1 maybe but we can't just lump it up after the balls been moved backwards. Imbula is one of the few DMs at the club Affelay being the other who can beat a man and create space.

Shows how bad it was today when people are suggesting he's the answer. 18 million thrown away. Add Joselu and Shaqiri and you're looking at the thick end of 36 million quid.
I wouldn't give Hughes anywhere near that again. He seem to do better shopping in the bargain basement.

It's quite clear though defensive duties aren't his strong point. As things stand I'd like see him given a go as the advanced midfield player with two of Whelan ,Geoff Cam or Allen sitting.

Hallelujah. I have been calling for imbula in the advanced midfielder role for fucking ages. Limited defensive responsibility allowing him to go out and impact the game going forward. Such a unique talent, in my opinion he is our best midfielder by a distance.

It is a possible answer though he was bought into replace Zonz, Allen and G Cam could work as you say Glen is sadly past it as is Charlie and Crouch, God help us when Walters is back, it is as if he bought Imbula on a whim like a new toy got pissed off with his new toy very quickly, then went out and bought Allen as a new toy to replace the expensive one he got pissed off with, to me he has not got a clue where to play the players he buys in doing so he has fecked the whole squad up.

Yes, play him with Cameron and Whelan sitting behind and let him make his runs and give Berahino space to make runs in behind. Allen has been poor for too long and we have to change it

He's at his best when he drives with the ball from deep. He won't be able to do that as an attacking midfielder.
If you're suggesting we should give him a free role, then I agree.

It's looking more and more like Imbula's problems are actually squad problems, his defensive side is lacking but then the whole team falls to pieces when our backs are against the wall, maybe Marc Wilson was right after all, if we did real defensive training through the week there's no way players like Shawcross would be so poor sometimes
As for Imbula, does anyone carry the ball better? As in when he picks the ball up and really gets going he's like a steam train and that's what we're lacking, all Adam seems to do is foul and attempt 70 yard diagonals so giving Imbula a run wouldn't be disastrous, especially if he really gets his head down
