MFC fan in peace!! I've luckily secured hospitality tickets for our upcoming game on the 4th of March. Two of my Boro mates and I have decided to make a night of it and I was wondering if anyone could give us an idea of where would be the best places to visit for a night out for three well dressed gentlemen. Not looking for a fight, drugs or anything like that just somewhere we can do for a good drink in pleasant company?
All advice greatly appreciated. Manchester

The 'Quality' hotel on Trinity Street. That's in Hanley. Avoid Hanley like the plague, it's a shithole. The only bar worth visiting is The Exchange which is actually opposite your hotel. If I were you I'd pop in there and then book a taxi to Newcastle-under-Lyme which should only set you back about £6. If you fancy a late drink after Newcastle the Genting casino is just down the road from the Quality Hotel.

Stoke, castle and Burslem all have thriving real ale/micropub scenes. What's in Hanley? Even the 'fun pubs' are shutting down. I'm ever hopeful a resurgence is happening in Stoke Town, some good boozers there now, with a bit of luck the Spode centre will help things along a bit and also give the retail side a bit of a lift, for my money they should pedestrianise a large part of it and try for a village style thing. Back on track I had a good night out in Dresden of all places last week. Finally, re -built after WW2, and the nightlife is top priority! Ein bier bitte!
