Even The Saggers has had a make-over now. Meanwhile Hanley just gets worse and worse.
In Hanley they think John Smith's is real ale.

I saw the thread title and wondered if Burslem wanted to leave Stoke-on-Trent. Burxit.

I fucking hate Hanley, just pill heads and people wanting a fight.
Not what I want to be negotiating around when I'm absolutely pissed out of my own existence.

Burslem is a great night out-though The Saggers wouldn't be my first point of call.

Burslem is a great night out-though The Saggers wouldn't be my first point of call. Where would be on yr Burslem tour? Mine would be... Post Office Vaults Swan Leopard Duke Bulls Vaults In my experience the beer in the Crown kills it and unless there's bands on I'll happily skip past the Huntsman/Chills.. shit name. Not that bothered about the rest when I've tried them... am I missing much? I'm not against the Mother Town, prefer it to Tunstall for a night out at the moment.

Used to be a good night out up Burslem. Is the Max Wall appreciation Society still going? And the clog dancers?
I read the Market Tavern in Hanley has been closed down. I haven't been up that way for donkeys.

My dad used to be a regular in the Duke. He once told me about the characters in there and he impersonated them. They often commented on the quality of the Bass that day. One guy used to say "it's on tonight" and his mate would say it was so good it was "like wine". Another rarely spoke to anyone except to confirm that he was "jogging along you know and I keep dipping me bread" when asked how he was. So keep dipping yer bread folks.

I went in the Saggers a while ago to meet a regular I used to work with. He greeted me looking at the wet floor and assured me "It's not all piss mate".

Burslem is a great night out-though The Saggers wouldn't be my first point of call. Worth a visit now. More like a Wetherspoons rather than a Burton Stores.

Micropubs seem to do very well in most places Stoke, castle and Burslem all have thriving real ale/micropub scenes. What's in Hanley? Even the 'fun pubs' are shutting down.

I'm ever hopeful a resurgence is happening in Stoke Town, some good boozers there now, with a bit of luck the Spode centre will help things along a bit and also give the retail side a bit of a lift, for my money they should pedestrianise a large part of it and try for a village style thing. Back on track I had a good night out in Dresden of all places last week.

I had an idea, went to the Park Inn with a mate about a year ago but we stayed in there, don't live in the area so I don't venture about much.

I'd been in the Tam O'Shanter since six, bit socially confused by that time. I believe there's more.

I believe there's more. Not a native but worked in Goms Mill and friends in Dresden. Never heard of The Crescent, is that Redhouse? Thought the Tam had died long ago. I'm being vague because I've not been that way (boozing) for a while. Perhaps need to have another look.

Tam was very much alive Friday before last, not packed but lively enough, I used to use it early 80s when I was on leave, trip down memory lane for me. Remarkably the two sons of the landlord from that time were in there. The Crescent is the old Polish Club.

Dresden booze cruize required.

The new Visitor Centre is there and within it they're planning on some retail offerings, stalls etc. Only had a quick chat with a bloke who has a sort of arty style shop more or less opposite The Liquor Vaults and he was telling me about it, apparently the council are being very helpful and understanding with the retail outlets in the area, he was cautiously optimistic about things. Some good bits of one-off stuff in his place actually, he sells for a variety of local arty types, perfect for unique gifts and imo deserves supporting.

If I'm in the SOT area when it happens I'd be up for a Dresden night if it's open invite :) I was impressed with the Stoke City pool table in the Tam, not seen one before, I did see a Stoke City cigarette machine in a pub just outside Cambridge once that I was impressed with - the pub was owned by a Stokie to be fair :)

MFC fan in peace!! I've luckily secured hospitality tickets for our upcoming game on the 4th of March. Two of my Boro mates and I have decided to make a night of it and I was wondering if anyone could give us an idea of where would be the best places to visit for a night out for three well dressed gentlemen. Not looking for a fight, drugs or anything like that just somewhere we can do for a good drink in pleasant company?
All advice greatly appreciated.
