For some reason we always seem incapable of doing this. Everytime someone puts some pressure on our midfield players, we end up going back to the goalkeeper & lumping it up the pitch. Every other team around us in the league does this better than us. This is not to take anything away from our superb point today but I think our biggest problem is that our midfield players are very negative & have little to no confidence in putting the ball down & playing the forward pass when the opposition is pressing. Whelan in particular has this problem. Unfortunately this completely takes our flair players out of the game because the ball never even gets to them.
This is one department that Hughes & co must massively improve.

Possession is nine-tenths of the law. Unless you are the law. We ain't the law yet. We need to work on possession and use Afellay as he is a deputy, who can become sheriff. That is the whiskey talkin'
