I'd have taken 1-1 at the start and I'd have taken 4 points from these last 2 games and that was, to be fair, an awesome goal of Rooney's to deny us (I still don't get where so many additional minutes came from tho)... so incredibly near a famous victory then, but I came away loving our spirit and the way we held them back. In detail there were things Sparky could have done better but, considering it's something we've been so poor at for most of this season, the big achievement for me was containing a power side in cracking form and for large chunks of the game, stopping them playing the game they wanted. For me that augurs really well for the rest of the season and I'm finally daring to look up not down (crosses fingers).
9* from me

7.5 from me *
Set up really solidly and our best effort against a big team at home all season
We struggled 2nd half and I think i would have kept Sahq on , he did well today and Allen was struggling but considering our lack of attacking options a good effort

9* for me, can't see much to fault Hughes with, thought he responded to Utd's subs very well.

8* - Thought that the defensive shape and character was excellent, but overrun in midfield and didn't create an awful lot up top. However, we got a point (albeit in gutting circumstances to lose the 3) against a very decent side who are on a long unbeaten run.

10. Not sure what else he could have done today. Team selection spot on and subs correct. We put everything in and dropped points due to a fantastic free kick.

10* Perfect team. Perfect attitude. Perfect substitutions. Fantastic effort. Couldn't fault any of the lads or the management today. Obviously a disappointing end but id have taken a point against them before the match. Let's not forget they've spent millions on players. We matched them. Well done today lads. Onto the Everton game. COYMP!!!

10 for me.
The starting lineup made sense as did the the subs and their timing. You can't legislate for moments of magic like that.

9* Could maybe have taken Arnie off instead of Shaq, but apart from that pretty called everything right.

8* No issues with team and how they played. Did not agree with subs, Allen should have gone off for Affelay. Ngoy did very little and can understand why his 1st team opportunities have been limited. Imbula m still struggling to what he brings to the team. Would have brought Bojan on today

Solid Adam and Shaqiri can count themselves unlucky to be subbed as they played well

7 - We didn't do much positive in the game, the result of not buying the right players in midfield, but we hung in there.

9.5. He picked the best team from the available players, but let's face it the team pretty much picked itself based on recent performances. He subbed out two of the right players at the right times because Adam and Arni were red cards waiting to happen. Anyway they looked knackered. It was good to see him give Ngoy some quality time, in a what must have been cauldron; however, it seems to me he should have stuck him in up front instead of Crouch. I suppose he kept Crouch in for his defensive ability on set pieces, and he needed to try another CF on the right wing. What is it about Sparky that makes him believe all strikers need to play on the wing - doesn't he trust them?

7 * stopped playing after we scored and parked the bus for close on 60 mins. Granted it was a heroic defensive effort from stoke but lucky to finish with a point imo.

6 Played well defensively, lucky goal to take lead and whelan had a great game, but outplayed and should have lost were it not for plenty of fortune and poor shooting from manure. Thought it was a nice touch to put Ngoy on, although he seemed abit in awe of their players.

9* agree with Sal at the top. A few niggles not worth mentioning but well done Mark and the lads. We performed as well as any club outside the top 6 against United, though possession in the 2nd half was denied to us.

8*
No probs with the starting line up. Thought taking Shaq off was a bit stupid. He was more involved than Arnie who was also on a yellow and looking like a potential second yellow walking. Personally I'd have considered Bardsley for Johnson after Rashford came on as he had Johnson beaten all ends up several times before beating him the time Joe gave away the foul that lead to the goal, he simply couldn't cope with him. Don't blame him for removing Adam he gives the ball away far too much and always looks like he might get sent off. Roll on Berahino I really don't like the amount of long hopeful balls up to Crouch.

9 from me. I think he picked the best team he could and made positive subs at about the right time.
I'd have also subbed Arnie before Shaq

8* from me same line up good formation everyone looked well up for it whether that was because of the manager or not I don't know but I'm willing to give it to Hughes. Gouranga.

He has to take most of the credit when things go right and most of the blame when it goes wrong because that's where the buck stops.

8* for me.
Got most things right. Can't agree with those wishing Charlie had stayed on. We needed to get hold of the ball in midfield and keep it and he just kept whacking it upfield to their centre halves.
But the starting line up, effort and disciplined play was good to watch.

3* long ball, percentage football with 35% possession at home. Not good enough. 9* Good, solid result.
