Blurton, I'm paying a lot more tax here in Germany than I was in the UK. I wish some of it would go towards filling potholes and building a decent rail network here, I can't possibly think what else Merkel might be spending it on. A decent rail network? Are you fucking nuts. Have you seen ours! Privatised remember lol Plus their health service pisses on ours and so do tons of other services. Yes I am nuts mate, but the German transport network is a major disappointment including trains.

Malt Vinegar Apparently this is a very British thing. I think I could have sold tickets to watch the "Wacky Brits" sprinkle it on their food in the canteen.
Bitter Plenty of countries do a decent largerey type beer; but a good bitter is much rarer.

Did you ever use the train the UK or drive around Cobridge on a windy Tuesday night?

Did you ever use the train the UK or drive around Cobridge on a windy Tuesday night? I'm in the Ruhrgebiet, near Essen. The S Bahn from Solingen to Dortmund stops at Bochum and everyone changes to an old train because the brand new trains have a habit of setting on fire so they don't trust them in the tunnel between Bochum and Dortmund. Many other trains in NRW are late. As for the roads... Cobridge is better Where are you based?

Cologne - the only big complaints I hear about local trains are the ones that are now run by National Express!! The ICEs I use a lot and from Cologne to Stuttgart (235miles) in 2hrs 13mins I can't complain at, at all. In Cologne, I use my bicycle!

I spend most of my time ,spring to autum, in Greece and/or the Mediterranean.
Strangely enough I miss the changes in, and in particular, bad weather.
We do from time to time get the bad weather that we miss and then moan about it !
I suppose I am just a moaning ,but proud, Brit in exile.
