Interesting and puts into context how hard it is to push on without shrewd signings and a big slice of luck along the way.

Nice bit of information puts everything in to perspective. There will still be many on here who will not like the conclusions - let alone the facts that support them

My one question is are we doing enough to increase the commercial income? It appears, from the outside, we are piss poor in that area.

Spot on how I understood it too
hope lots of people get to see this
and a 30k stadium was always the next step
what we need now is:- some more prudent / astute moves in the transfer market and, the acadamy to finally start turning out some real prospects
oh and of course - a bit more fortune on the fields of play !
and we've got to look hard at the likes of Brighton - Derby - Leeds and Newcastle as really wanting the threaten our status
apart from those competing directly in our league - I reckon - youve always got to watch the championship also
-and if necessary 'cherry pick' off them too - keep them where they are by making them our 'feeder clubs' when the acadamy does not deliver prospects
In terms of the £100 m investment from the owners - whilst vital and very much appreciated - its all resulted in clear and overt benefit to the family business too - by being connected with the premier league so, the investment can only be seen as making complete business sense to the Coates Family also
(as well as the football club)
and yes commerically - are we sure we are exploiting ourselves as a truly worldwide brand ?
Im not so sure

The Swiss Ramble report made that point and it's one that needs to be mentioned. We could do a lot more commercially. But the two biggest commercial deals.e. shirt sponsorship and ground naming rights have been signed up by bet365 very cheaply. Interestingly, the small rise in commercial income includes the new naming rights for the ground. So, anyone expecting a transfer window kitty windfall from this will be disappointed. Overwhelmingly, it is t.v. broadcasting which is funding the club. Furthermore, it failed to mention the £100m Coates family investment equals the value of the club if it was sold.

It's in bet365's interests for the deal to be cheap. They get global advertising for a relatively small layout. They have enough advertising already though. To have the ground and shirt sponsorship I think is essentially bad for us. I'd rather it was different and we got more money directly from that sponsorship. And it wouldn't affect the money we get from bet365. It just screams half arsed.

we dont know do we though, all the offers that came in might of been for less than what we are getting from bet365. PC said he wanted to bring in investment from other companies but if they arnt going to stump up enough money cause everyone still looks at us as little old Stoke.

They might have been, that's where the ceo has to earn his 800k a year. If you can't sell the club as it is then he isn't doing his job correctly.

Even if we do, and granted we are not 100% on this, it will still be a tiny amount given our supporter base The key thing I took from that is we really need better recruitment (not easy) and real hope for the Academy to produce because commercially we are near our limits and a few extra seats wont make much difference. Of course they could whack the season tickets prices up but I doubt that would have a positive impact We are where we are

It is my understanding that we get the minimum TV money based on the nuber of our games shown. Manure appear many more times than us. The more attractive football we play and the better our results, the more we will be shown. We suffer badly by our perceived image, often from news media who clearly havent watched us.
This week we played some really attractive football, our "friends" on MOTD went on about the age of Crouch then concentrated on how Sunderland played. The 2nd Arnie goal was a superb team goal and got no comment.
This is costing us money

Very simple and well produced video,it shows the club relies on the TV money for us to compeat. It is very hard to grow the commercial department unless the fans are willing to put there hands in there pocket, which the club have not turned to.We are a small club in a big league,we have approx 22000 season tickets at one of the lowest prices. We also here on this board about fans not buying from the club shop or online, well the clubs with larger support spend millions. The facts are millions would of watched today's match in the Far East ,For those old engouh to remember gate money was shared, then it was the home team only would get all the revenue this hit us in the 80s with our poor crowds. The next thing will be teams getting money on viewing rights. We need to be realistic we are never going to have a turnover where we can compeat off the field, but with good recruiting and luck we can compeat on the pitch. Its 11 against 11

Interesting how negative is about the management at the club and yet WBA just head hunted our CFO to be their CEO, suggests we may be reasonably well run. Certainly true that the Premier League thinks we are the best run club in the PL
