Apologies if there is a similar thread that I have missed but I am intrigued by our transfer team.
They get slagged off on a continuous basis & I was wondering who it consisted of and what their 'worldly' football experience stems from?
I did some reading on Cartwright & he is lauded by Scholes for delving into the foreign markets but his experience seems nothing more than a stint as Leek Town manager and some time in the role of a football agent.
Am I missing something about this bloke & has he got a bunch of savvy employees working for him?

I do really wonder myself about them especially with the Zonz news this morning. Maybe in all reality the problem is not who we want to buy, but who does the deals. Thinking about who could leave this window, you just know we will get a crap deal out of it. The clamber for Hughes to go is one thing, but if I was PC then I would be looking at replacements for them first!

I know Benji has a personal grudge against Scholes but some of which he says is spot on. If trying to sell Muni for 3m euros is true then that's plain daft. The summer also was a mess the way we got strung along re Berahino forcing is to get in Bony. I spoke to an agent at the time and he indicated we were offered some very good players like Bakumbu who we turned our noses up at. That said he did get in Joe Allen I do however think that MH was the biggest influence on that deal.

After hearing the news that Stoke didn't or couldn't get a sell on clause in the N'Zonzi deal, it does make you wonder about the competence of the senior figures at the club who are dealing with transfer deal.
I'm sorry this just isn't good enough, I would have thought that including sell on clauses would be standard procedure on any transfers, if Seville were being "difficult" over the deal well surely didn't we have the nap hand in that he was our player and they wanted him and he wanted to leave, so including a sell on clause would be standard or sorry boys no deal?
If I was Mr Coates I would be asking some searching questions of the transfer team who I would say have done major explaining to do, mind you I bet they had pizza when the deal was done!
You couldn't make it up could you, totally incompetence I would say.

Sorry boys, we're stamping our feet and insist you give us more money in the future if you sell him. Yes, we realise we lose him for nothing in less than 12 months, but we're prepared to risk £7m for the sake of it. Imagine the uproar on here if he had left for free...

Totally understandable that nzonz should get the glamour move he wants. In the same way top players wanting out at spurs or Southampton get the glamour move that they want.
Did we get top dollar like spurs or Southampton? No

Thanks for your responses gents but I don't think anyone has answered the question I was asking,
"what experience could the transfer team put on their CV?"
Are they considered specialists in their field by other clubs? Are they considered so valuable to the club that we have to protect them from being poached?
