It was poor but fair play he stopped it.

If we are luckier than we deserve he might develop? I honestly think if he'd kept a clean sheet against Swansea all those moons ago he would've been fine. That dodgy goal did for him. Time to go out, play some football and enjoy himself. Hopefully it'll do him the world of good and he'll look like the keeper who played against Everton in that preseason match even more moons back. Go on Haugaard!!

I saw Gordon Marshall and I still think Haugaard is the worst keeper I've seen in a Stoke shirt.

He was disastrous for us but ultimately you had to feel sorry for the kiddie, chucked in when he was so glaringly unready. What can we do but wish him well

I saw Gordon Marshall and I still think Haugaard is the worst keeper I've seen in a Stoke shirt. He was not only the worst Keeper we have ever had, but i'd probably say the worst player we have ever had, and by god we have had some shockers, who was that god awful Scottish defender we had, around the time of Marshall... Derr...Sorry...I actually think Marshall is the worst keeper, and indeed player....

Swansea was such a strange game for him too. He handled some deep crosses very well and even made a couple of half decent saves. The goal which went through him though. Awful.

Speaking as a goalkeeper, there is a good keeper in there. Maybe not premiership standard but I saw in pre season and against Doncaster in the cup that he isn't a bad keeper. He had a disaster of a game which shot his confidence, couple that with the fact that he was replacing onr of the best keepers in Europe at the time and that magnified his shitness I agree that he isn't good enough for us but I think he will become a good goalkeeper for someone! I hope for him it will be Wigan

I saw Gordon Marshall and I still think Haugaard is the worst keeper I've seen in a Stoke shirt. Woooahh.... easy tiger. He is no where near that level of incompetence! Marshall is by a country mile the worst player between the sticks I have ever seen for Stoke (Southall at least had some comedy value to bring to the party) Haugaard is a young developing keeper with little actual game time. Compared to Marshall who was around 29/30 years old, from Celtic, who had played 300+ games in Scotland before coming over. Marshall was also absolutely shite playing in the Championship as well, not against the likes of Liverpool in the Premier League. Making matters worse for the Scotsman, when I hear the words Gordon Marshall, it then triggers memories of John Clarke from Dundee as well, making me hate Gordon Marshall even more!! What a combination those two were. ...god...the memories of Vinny, club captain, sitting on the bench for that shitter as well...

If we are luckier than we deserve he might develop? Footballers are funny people, goalies especially so, and the funny thing is he didn't lose confidence in his own ability at all. At least that's what's filtered through from several interviews in the Danish press. He was made to look like a baby beginner but he wasn't helped by a back four that didn't respect him and weren't prepared to help him one bit. The likes of Wollscheid, Pieters and Shawcross especially. But now that we are again conceding four goals in many games, we can perhaps see that Jakob wasn't as much to be blamed as most (me included) thought at the time. A disorganised defense is far more at fault. Jakob has quietly picked up his career, got injured at the start of the season and so wasnt able to go on loan as planned. He now is and has started well. When he does return we should welcome him with open arms.

Saved a penalty and kept a clean sheet on his Wigan debut. Hardly surprising with only two shots of which one on target being the penalty. Anyway hope the lad does well for Wigwam. Better test in the FA Cup perhaps?

Whittle won player of the season in 97/98 (the year the Hippo came third). He wasn't the greatest but at least looked up for a battle once we'd been relegated, then Brian Little bizarrely sold him to Hull and signed Lee Collins instead Gary Holt turned out to be a very decent player years down the line. In hindsight one that got away.
