I'm so jealous of Muni's missus.
He's just fucking adorable and I'd love to spoon him passionately before going to sleep every night.

So when Ryan, the club captain a man who's shed blood in the cause over 10 years loyal service, reacts to quite overt vile abuse froms fans he's pilloried. Muniesa who's manged at least 3 consecutive games before being injured and played a handful of games over 4 years. reacts to some possible, potential, maybe, assumed abuse from some imaginary fan and he's a hero because he's got a wife and baby daughter and his family are in the crowd. Ahhhh. Go figure. We are warped on this board without doubt. I thought shawcross was right to respond to them As I think Muniesa is right to respond to any abuse he got. Just saying though, that, strangely enough, double standards seem to operate on this board.

Seems like a passionate guy, remember his celebration when he scored. Could do with some of the other players at least giving off the perception that they care and bring a bit of passion onto the pitch

Very, very sad

Credit where credit is due to muniesa a dignified and matrix response. , Glasgow I'm afraid shawcross is not adored by all and does get some ridiculous criticism , ok he is well paid to deal with it , but unlike some he lives and breathes in the community is here for the long term and can be forgiven for a show of defiance in the face of some extreme provocation

He has not disappointed me in the slightest. Marc is right to be angry and it's good that he has shown his passion, despite not even being on the pitch.

We shouldn't expect players not to respond to criticism, indeed I'd prefer it if they did. I think people are misinterpreting Ryan's gesture, I didn't read it as sarcasm, nor an attack on fans, it was more "Let's hear you complain about THAT" which I think is a perfectly valid response in the circumstances. If we try and control and silence the players' passions in the game, it will do us no good. Well paid or otherwise, they aren't robots.

Some of us, for instance those of us who work away from the area and have to listen to other supporters opinion of Ryan, and spend a part of our lives defending him, arguing that he should be playing for England, do not think that such a gesture is appropriate and frankly you are talking bollocks

The Spanish Armada is sinking fast...Joselu shipped out, Bojan wanting out , and Muniesa looks like going the same way... All three can leave in my opinion. And can take those overrated, overpaid Swiss dwarf and Porto reject with them.. It's obvious they all want out with their body language...Walters gets more stick than anyone , but still gives 100 % for the shirt . And Joe Allen is worth every penny!.. Gone off on one here !..Soz

You are of course entitled to your opinion, with which I happen to disagree. I don't think Ryan's intention was to disrespect the fans. He is the sort of blood-and-guts player who will be incredibly frustrated that some of his recent performances haven't been up to his usual standard. It probably pisses him off greatly (as it should). He can be forgiven the odd little reaction when he scores a goal, surely.

Ahhhh. Go figure. We are warped on this board without doubt. With respect, that's a joke of a post. 1) You have absolutely no idea what abuse Ryan received before the Watford game and you have absolutely no idea what abuse was directed at Muni after the game. 2) To bring Marc Muniesa's injuries into the equation is pathetic. Do you seriously think he enjoys being injured? 3) The reaction of both players is completely different. Look, I respect Ryan Shawcross as much as any player since I started supporting Stoke, and he'll go down as a ,stoke legend in my eyes but he was out of order last week. He got a bit of stick from probably a handful of fans and cupped his ears at the entire stadium. Muniesa obviously took exception to what he heard tonight, but he's gone out of his way on social media to make clear that he hopes he's not let anybody down. Muniesa has shown captain like qualities and look at the reaction he's been afforded.

I don't buy that they should rise above it - it gets a bit wearing after a while. Let them give it back, scares these cowards shitless when they do. As a general point - why is it ok for supporters to throw abuse at players (when it wouldn't be acceptable in the street)? To be fair mate when they serve up half arsed shit are they supposed to have a pat on the back for it? they earn 30,4050,60,70,120k a week and fans still pay the gate money which is often a considerable % of their weekly wage expecting a shift put in Once or twice a week for 90 minutes by the players, is that too much to ask? If they don't want to play for the club don't sign, simple really

When someone says 'with respect' it generally means the opposite, so I tend to treat the remainder of what they have to say as bollocks as well.
