0 - didn't learn lessons from Bournemouth game when he picked a very similar team which produced a near identical performance. Very poor. Hughes didn't miss the penalty against Bournemouth or the sitter that Crouch spooned over the bar today. The players have to take some of the blame. Hughes also has to sort out a consistent starting 11 and a consistent pattern of play. He has chopped and changed way too much this year.

No arguments from me there but he should have known that the opposition would find it very easy to get at our back 4. They did and could easily have been 2 up before they eventually scored.

5* from me picked what looked a great side on paper but Crouch and Bojan are never going to work IMO, the team appeared un motivated and the tactics were baffling to say the least, second half was much better but the subbing of Shaq just as he was looking dangerous was bewildering, how the fuck Glen Johnson stayed on the pitch I'll never know. love you Sal Gouranga.

'Once you step over that white line'
etc
its hilarious to me how the manager gets low marks off some given,
he picked a pretty attractive looking team (on paper) more than capable of doing the job
So, in my book, its not Mark Hughes fault that :-
1) some of our star players dont turn up for the first half - (when given real opportunity to make their mark)
2) ref misses a blatant penalty at the begining of the second half
or
3) that the opposing goalie gives a brilliant display second half
and
4) Sometimes you do actually have to give credit to the opposition
Ive been giving him stick lately but - 7/10 for that game

8 for team selection - its what we all wanted to see 8 for having the bollocks to hook the ineffective Imbula and Bojan 2 for not motivating the majority of players to fight and chase 1 for a rubbish game plan - if there was one -25 for losing aginst a B team and a manager with a simple predictable game plan How can it be a high mark for team selection and a low one for game plan. The two are largely the same thing, aren't they?

He got the team selection right, but they didn't have a clue what they were supposed to do together as a team.

It's difficult to score Hughes for each game because he's created such an unbalanced squad that makes it almost impossible to field a team which looks defensively solid and yet gets the best out of his attacking players.
The closest he's come to it is when he played Whelan and Cameron as holding midfielders.
So we stumble from one disjointed line-up to another. The players don't look happy. Who does?
7 for fielding an attacking line-up, but minus 5 for a midfield which offers no protection for defence.
That's a 2 overall *
