We clearly have a problem in the ranks right now, especially with the fancy dans. Hughes has to play those who want to fight for the cause. He will play as close as he can to the Watford team on the basis that team won.

There's more chance of Iain Dowie winning a beauty contest than Ngoy starting!

I genuinely think he's going to give Ngoy a start next weekend after assessing Crouch's contribution today. -------------- Grant ------------- Bards --- Ryan --- Indi --- Pieters ------- Whelan ----- Adam ------ Shaq -------- Allen -------- Arnie -------------- Ngoy ------------- Surely Afellay deserves to start?

Picks itself at the moment:
GRANT BARDSLEY SHAWCROSS BRUNO MUNIESA WHELAN SHAQ ALLEN AFFELAY ARNIE NGOY
or
GRANT BARDSLEY SHAWCROSS BRUNO MUNIESA WHELAN ADAM ALLEN AFFELAY ARNIE NGOY
Depending on your view of Shaq. (I think we give him games).

I'm finding it increasingly hard to come up with any sensible suggestions due to the ridiculously unbalanced squad available.
We have no pace anywhere, we're restricted to Crouch and Walters (if he's fit) to lead the line, we have no alternatives to our (woefully out of form) full backs, we don't have a single DCM available bar Whelan and there's not a single winger in the squad with genuine pace.
But then we have about sixty million midfielders all competing for one or two spaces.
How did we end up like this?

Sparky says you can never have enough midfielders.

God knows! But it's certainly been over a few seasons. I think we've consistently been asking for full backs for window upon window and they never arrive. The same goes for a defensive midfielder. And despite how well he's played, you'll never convince me we actually needed Joe Allen and he just hasn't made the problem worse. And that's no slight of the man himself. And again re pace, how many years have we been asking for pace? It makes it all the more frustrating as this was all far too predcictable.

He's been the only midfielder worth his salt this season. Without him we'd be lumbered with Bojan or Imbula stinking out the joint. We need to fuck some of our "flair" players off and add some more steel (and pace)

We have plenty of steel for my liking except in midfield and that needs one player. Pace is what we really lack. We had an inexperienced 19 year old come on today and he was playing a different game to the one his international team mates were. I really thought he showed them all up with the intelligence of his runs and they had no idea how to use them. If Hughes has any sense he will see that movement, see that pace and have a big of an epiphany.

Another test and, another crucial match
I keep repeating though, there should be absolutely no reason for it to be ( but -it is)
And so the manager and players seemingly, continue to be happy to heap pressure upon themselves
and talk as though its all fine
daft really
So
we win = crisis over ?
we draw = thats ok but, simmering discontent continues
we lose = OMFG ----------
I reckon we need 4 more league wins to be safe - should be readily possible but even when we are ahead
in games - we shrink like a small cock in a very cold swimming pool !
not a good season, however you look at it

my team next Saturday ideally would be:-
Grant
Johnson - Shawcross - Bruno - Eric
Cameron - Whelan
Arnie - Allen - Afellay
Walters
i.e. legs and experience for a difficult game they will be 'well up for'

Fully expecting Grant Johnson Shawcross BMI Pieters Adam Afellay Walters Allen Arnie Crouch 100% that will be the team. Hopefully i will be so shit-faced, in geordieland friday night, that I will just be thinking about the metro back rather than watching the balloon-chasing dog that is walters....on the wing!!!

...............Grant................ Johnson...Shawcross...Indi.....Pieters ...........Whelan.....Affellay........... Shaq..........Allen..........Arnie. .................N'Goy............... Won't happen in a million, N'Goy would help create the space the others need. It has to be that really. It won't be. Johnson will be lucky not to be dropped too. Jonno is going downhill fast! Didn't see anything from N'Goy to justify all the hype...makes me wonder what our U23's do all week
