Is it Allen, Adam & Affelay or would you have the likes of Imbula, Bojan & Whelan ?

Might be just me but I thought Charlie was average at best today, he'd a shocking first half from where I was sitting.
Allen and Afellay looked good.
Afellay in particular really stood out, very good on the ball and didn't shirk any tackle, he has to start based on that performance alone

I thought it was Allen, Geoff, Whelan until Geoff got injured and Whelan got over used by Hughes with no Afellay (who was injured) and only Adam to fill in for two spots (who has been doing quite well). Bojan for Allen as he always should see action away or from the bench for creativity like Afellay.

I love Affelays ball retention compared to Adams chance passes.

Charlie played well today, but he wasn't tested defensively, none of our team were really.
On everything I've seen over the last couple of seasons it would be Cameron as the DM, Affelay as the CM and Allen as the AM.
Whelan would have been in there due to his discipline, leadership and the effect he has on the team, but I do feel that this season he is losing his ability to get about the pitch at a time when we need to have more mobility there to carry less defensive minded players like Shaqiri.

I personally thought charlie was superb tonight and was easily man of the match.

The ones fit and in form on the day of the match.
The ones Hughes picks.
Will that get "Smartarse Post Of The Week"?

I'm not sure we have a 3 that works at the moment and I guess it depends on whether we are playing a 4231 (with an advanced CM) or a 433 (in the truest sense and not with wing backs). For me it's Allen and Afellay and one other. I really believe we need a quality DM who could sit in front of the back 4 ahead of 2 CB's. I think we could do a lot worse than trying.
.........Muni.........
Afellay..........Allen
3 players comfortable on the ball who are busy and prepared to put some energy in.

It seems to change with the injuries sustained. We've had a midfield 3 and then there was today's 3 at the back and two wingbacks.
Hopefully Afellay can get fit and going fast as he seems pretty well recovered. Bojan can get minutes to rotate out Allen. Then we should get Geoff back and at the same time give Whelan rest with Adam in the last few games and then we will have all options and lineups available again.

In my opinion that midfield is just too soft & will be run over by more aggressive teams.

For me, aside from Allen, it depends on how we are setting up:
3-5-2 Adam, Allen, Afellay
4-2-3-1 Whelan, Imbula, Allen

On paper - Imbula, Allen, Bojan.
In reality, God knows. Adam seems to be playing well recently and Affelay deserves all the credit he gets. Let's not forget Cameron.
