Has anyone ever sent a request to the club for a player to sign a birthday card.My mates son who lives in in St Helens is a big Joe Allen fan and sent a pre paid envelope to the club asking if they could sign the card.Basically he received nothing at all,no acknowledgement or owt.Is this the norm, anyone? Cheers.

There pretty much 0% chance. I know for a fact that they get 'inundated' with requests and have known people to get rejected (apart from extenuating circumstances such as very unwell children etc.)
however they could always try their luck by emailing members@stokecityfc.com who I have always found to be incredibly helpful.

The reply from Stoke was sorry we don't do this and can't help you.

Would have really meant so much to her mum too. Her fave player is Arnie, so even if only Arnie signed it would have been brilliant but Stoke just weren't interested. Yet they say football is about us fans.

My late dad was a lifelong Boro fan, having been born near there, but I did manage to convert him to be a part-time Stokie and he accompanied me to many games. Five years ago he was seriously ill with cancer and I thought maybe something from one of the clubs would help to cheer him up a little. I contacted both Stoke and Middlesbrough and asked if they could help, and that I was willing to pay for whatever they could do or send. 3 days later a Middlesbrough shirt arrived signed by the entire first team, manager etc together with a lovely card which did give dad a real lift and put a wonderful smile on his face. All free of charge. Dad sadly passed away not long afterwards, but I'm still waiting for a reply from Stoke !!

Sadly not surprised by Stoke.

My mates wife's mum worked with a doctor that had a connection to the club and she gave him a blank card which was signed by the first team a few years ago for his birthday. He was well chuffed but it seems you need a connection to get anywhere!!

I must say the lack of response from my club really left a sour taste and I still can't believe they could have been like this.

My little brother managed to get a signed, personal birthday card from Mark Hughes a few years ago after we contacted the club. At the time I guessed it was the norm but clearly not after reading these posts. Best of luck trying to sort it
I have no idea who we contacted but I could probably find out easily enough

I've no doubt the players wouldn't be arsed about signing stuff but what we've established yet again is that Stoke are a piece of shit behind the scenes.

I emailed Tony Scholes and he arranged for a letter for my fathers 60th signed by Pulis back in 2012 which he now has framed

Cheers. I contacted Stoke and Everton for something for my dad and father in law as a thank you for helping with our wedding. Within a couple of days, Everton had sent a signed photo from Phil Jagielka with a message for him and also sent a wedding card to me and my wife signed by the entire squad. Stoke, to their credit, did arrange to send something but this may have been driven by the response from Everton. Eggybread, I've sent you a DM re the contact at Stoke who can hopefully help you out. Very easy to deal with once I managed to speak to a real person instead of a general mailbox address!
