I don't post very often but I travel to every home and away game so I need to air my views which may be controversial.
For me the three players that should lead the exit door in January are Bojan, imbula and surprisingly shaqiri.
Bojan not the player he was and no room for him in the team ahead of Allen,Chelsea's 3rd goal 15 seconds after we get back on level terms all down to him taking the ball across the box and losing possession. He's had plenty of chances to stake his claim in the team and simply not taken it!
Imbula can play when he shows interest but simply not good enough in possession and tracking back, 18 million spunked by MH, if we can recoup close to that abroad get rid as he's not suited to the premier league type of football we play.
Shaqiri is no doubt an outstanding player when he turns up, however having one worldly game, followed by two or three poor games and then injuries is a luxury we can't afford at this level. We need consistent performances he simply doesn't give. If we can get the money back we paid then I'd let him go.
Bojan and imbula walking straight off the pitch after the final whistle without bothering to acknowledge the fans not good enough for me and pissed a lot of fans off.
I'll probably be slated for my comments but just my opinion!!

Stafford total agree, we need players that put a 'skilled' shift in and these do not fit the bill. All 3 have the talent but not for a hardworking team which any Prem team out of the big 7 have to be to survive.

Spot on there is a general feeling of apathy around the club at the moment it starts from the top and has permeated downwards, the whole lot want a good old fashioned bollocking and telling in no uncertain terms what their jobs are about. Pulis was a dinosaur who ran out of ideas how to take us forward, at the moment we are approaching the very same point under Hughes.

there's a lot of talent there but I can see your reasoning. The 1 of the 3 that I find the most frustrating is Shaq as he's done some magical stuff but he just doesn't do it enough. You could say the same about the other 2 as well but not to the same extent.
I would say however that Hughes has to take a lot of the blame as
1) He doesn't play them in their best position. 2) He's bought them to play in a system that they don't fit into or has to much competition with others. You could question that all 3's best positon is at the point of a midfield 3 / behind the striker.
If we could retain 2 of the 2 of them and get in a decent DM and a proper winger I'd certainly take it as the 3 of them could never all play in the same side.

Bojan created the equaliser that got us back in the game. Yes, he dropped a bollock soon after but Bojan won't just hoof it, he'll try to play a pass. He was being pressed by Chelsea players and no-one made themselves available for an easy ball, he actually played a reasonable ball into Imbula's feet but Imbula never reacted and it was taken off him. When I see Bojan, Shaq, Arnie and Imbula start for Stoke it actually makes my weekend as one of them will do something on the pitch the rest of us mere mortals can only dream about.

I hope all three kick on now and have a strong finish to the end of the season. Or you could swap them for Snodgrass, Joe Ledley, and Tom Huddleston! No ta. I'd prefer a roll of the dice every now and then and hope they click.

Gooooarn john. It's part of the history. We're working towards a squad of talents, it's a process of purchase integration and sell (for profit). None of the three mentioned have passed phase two yet.
Keep.
Johnson, Ireland, Crouch, Adam as outs before your chosen three for me.

I respectfully disagree, i can see why some might see it that way but for me, Bojan and Shaqiri are the type of players we need in the final third, we just don't play Bojan anymore and we don't play to either of their strengths (or the rest of the team for that matter)
Hughes bought these players in when he wanted that interchangeable front 4, we knew where he was going with the system and it was looking good, his biggest mistake up to now IMO is not adequately replacing N'Zonzi which has directly affected the position we're in now..
Can anyone here really guess at our lineup for Watford? Then look at the weaknesses in that lineup and genuinely think that Hughes is going to go out and strengthen it and not buy another No.10? I love Whelan, Crouchy and Walters, they've been massive for us over the years but their starts should be non-existent now, how can anyone not question Hughes' transfer policy when they're still starting?

Can't agree with Bojan going. He has not had a run of games this season with the likes of afallay, arnie and a good footballer up front. He plays well with good footballers. Herbert's like Adam, Walters etc don't help his game.
The biggest problem is imbula. If he plays we have to play a back 3 because he doesn't defend and we look poor with a back 3. We won 5/7 without imbula & we have been wank since he came back in. He has talent but he isn't aggressive enough and he should demand the ball and run games.
Shaq is good when he's good and anonymous when he's playing

I'll probably be slated for my comments but just my opinion!! I share your views on the fact that these three have under performed for Stoke - Imbula and Shaqiri more or less since they signed and Bojan since he came back from injury However there is no way that the club would ship them out during the January window unless we had: 1 Guaranteed replacements lined up - and not necessarily even in the same positions 2 Realistic offers in terms of recouping the financial outlay we made in respect of Shaqiri and Imbula. Sadly, in the real world, that simply is not going to happen during a January transfer window. At the end of the season the club certainly needs to take a long hard look at what benefit these players bring in but if nothing changes then who on earth is likely to sign them? Bojan came here to revitalise his career because it had taken a dive. He did well for us till he got a big injury but he's been a shadow of his former self since his return and its clearly affected him. He may get an offer from Spain - I've seen the rumours along with everyone else; but the offers won't come flooding in and certainly not for big money. Similarly, Shaqiri found himself up a cul de sac before he came here; however, he's not really put himself in the centre spotlight of the shop window since his arrival. Oh, I know he's not being played in what is likely to be his best position but do you really expect any club to shell out what we might call reasonable money on the back of what he has produced for us so far? I'm not expecting any big turn round in his performance, either, as I've come to the conclusion that for all his apparent skill (when he chooses to apply it) that he's just not suited to the hurley-burley of the Premiership...I mean, how many times do you fall to the ground after the slightest of nudges only to get ignored by the Ref before you realise its a different game to what you've played on the Continent? That's two consecutive clubs and leagues he's failed in....any takers for a big money offer, please? Imbula came here because he couldn't get a game in Portugal and perhaps we are now seeing why. Personally, of the three, I think he is the one worth persisting with. Most on here acknowledge that there is a talent in there despite the obvious faults, rather like Steven N'zonzi when he first joined us. There was another player who divided opinion in much the same way (for what its worth I was one of his detractors early on). Looking back now I realise that it took a couple of seasons for him to adjust to the demands of the Prem but eventually he did - albeit too late for us to reap the rewards. I have this hunch that Imbula may turn out the same way though whether we can capitalise on it before he departs to new pastures remains to be seen.

For whatever reason the star players maybe apart from Arnie are not performing which has led to a fragmented line up in almost every game. The other thing that I would add is what is happening in the Academy and particularly Ollie Shenton. What is happening in our club???

No team should make those kinds of changes in January, especially when we are losing three players to the ACON, because decent players are very hard to find mid-season. There is an argument to be made for losing one of those three since we have a surplus of central midfield players to make room in the squad for a DM. Bojan is first and foremost a striker that we need in case anything happens to Walters or Crouch.

You would think/hope that Hughes would define the type of team he is trying to build and describe the general skill set of the players he wants and then have the recrutment team go out and find the right candidates for Hughes to evaluate. That how it works in the various businesses I have worked in and I'd be very surprised if football is much different.

I can't see many, if any, being allowed to leave in January, and certainly not our big names.
The likes of Bojan, Shaqiri and Imbula are on long-term contracts, so we are under no pressure to cash in (unless someone makes a crazy bid).
People like Crouch, Bardsley and Johnson might be more likely to move on as they only have 6 months left on their current deals. The problem is that if we let any of them go now we would need to find a suitable replacement!

Imbula is a bad apple. You can tell his teammates dont like him much the way they gesticulate at him
Shaqiri. His mind is clearly set on a move. Started the season brightly but his heart is no longer in it
Bojan. Clearly also thinking of a move back to Spain because hes just not getting a chance in the starting line up or from the bench
I think Hughes has some serious problems with players not wanting to be here.

I can't agree with the opening post. With so many older players who are not contributing much to the team, getting rid of our 3 more talented younger players just doesn't make sense to me, unless of course we are offered a superb exchange deal. By older players I don't mean Crouch, Walters, and Adam, who each in their different ways bring something to the team, but never all three in the team at the same time please. Over the next 2 months, it is vital we distance ourselves from the relegation zone, then focus on next season by trying young players and give them extended runs, even if our league position suffers. The priorities are still a top class CB, replacement for Whelan, and that elusive 15+ goals striker. After that we need younger FBs and another winger who can take on and go past people, and possibly another (cover) GK, depending on what the prognosis is for Jack.
For me getting in what we need is far more important than deciding who to off-load, as the latter follows the former IMO.

If someone sat me on the bench and played my Dad and my Grandad then I'd want to leave.
That's what we are doing to Bojan and Shaq when we start with Crouch and Walters. In their minds anyway.
These guys were brought in to be the future, the way forward, the next level but now they sit and watch Crouch and Walters.
You couldn't make it up could you, only in Stoke would this happen. In all honesty they must be thinking "What the F**K am I doing here at worlds end sitting watching this shit"
If I was either of them I would be on the phone to China.
