Here's a bold prediction. Once our defensive frailties have been addressed we'll be a very, very potent force again. Arnie, Affelay, Allen, Bojan can turn this... Not with the inept tactics they are made to play they can't

Transfer window bites us in the arse ,again we've nowthe truth is we are just about good enough to stay out of the bottom three but momentum is taking us there . Why We sold our best player on the cheap 18 months ago , we let two defenders go and replaced them with a loan last summer. We replaced one of the best keepers in the premier with a third choice from the championship, we wasted 12 m. On Shaq , 18 m on imbula , 6m on Joselu and got the absolute piss taken out of us by wba where are those now that said they weren't a bottom half rival . Whoever is in charge of. Our transfer strategy whatever their role should be spending their last day in the role , 32 Goals conceded v 16 last year we are getting exactly what we deserve and as predicted without material change it's going to get. A whole lot worse as the mistakes made Summer after summer bite , football is about momentum and we gave ours away 18 months ago and judgement day is arriving for those who were culpable . I don't 100% disagree with all of the things you've said there Benji. But you can fuck right off if you think slagging Lee Grant off is going to get by, he's the only reason it's a solitary 32 right now, he's been much better than anyone could have expected. Not going down though by a long shot. Swansea, Hull and Sunderland are just too poor to survive. We just need to learn how to defend.

There's no balance to the team we either play defensive and really struggle to score or play more expansive but concede for fun Just saying exactly this to my Dad With the quality of players we have then this is the harsh reality

Erik being interviewed now - sounds absolutely gutted So disappointed re some defending and lack of concentration For Chelsea, every player knows exactly what they have to do, they have a system
He's complimentary re our fans ( as always) and hoping that we can repay them with a good result and performance v Watford
Happy New Year Erik

1st goal - Shawcross was shit 2nd goal - Pieters sold himself (apart from that, he defended well I must say) 3rd goal - What was Bojan doing? pissing about and giving the ball away in a dangerous area 1 minute after equalizing 4th goal - I was taught as a kid 'never let the ball bounce' when defending, Indi did and thus got into a position to get bullied by Costa. Every goal had a poor individual error at the heart of it. Same applies re Chelsea defending for our goals The difference we made 4 errors today

The only 2 shots on target we scored from, no other chances on target, who knows, if we would have had 4 on target we may have a point. Happy conceding 4 again are you? Happy with our current defending? Happy with our attacking options?

We did better than I expected today. Same shit schoolboy defensing, same stupid hospital passing from Crouch, Bojan and Johnson.
But let's be honest we (those of us with a brain) new this game was unlikely to give us anything but 1st spot on MOTD.
No it was the complete f**k up against Leicester that it is now clear was a 6 pointer that pisses me off.
You do however have to worry about a defence that lets in 4 goals on a regular basis when the keeper is doing better than anyone dared hope he would.

As I said on a different thread I'd rather concede 4 and play offensively than sit back and defend a 1-0 loss. Happy with our current defending? No. We need to replace shawcross and I never thought I would ever say that. Pieters and Johnson we can make do with although both made mistakes today pieters unfortunately leading to a goal. Our attacking options I want a striker in but I'm happy with what we've got if he just plays bojan up front. A player who predominantly played as a striker through his youth and the short time in the first team at barca is one of the best finishers we have and makes intelligent runs needs to do this. Although to contradict myself I thought Hughes got it spot on today with crouch. As it payed off for both goals.

I would say our best performance in thetimes we have been to Chelsea in league and cup since promotion. They are better than last year which makes today better. Our tactics were clever and showed how to play against them. At 2-2 it was an open game and at 3-2 they were making defensive changes. Erik got beaten once as can happen against top players and the other 3 goals were avoidable. But we can and had a go and I applaud that as better than just parking the bus.
Also clear how much we have missed Afellay, he is a level ahead of everyone and to play that well after 8 months out shows his quality.

To be fair to them We weren't going to make many clear cut chances today and luckily we put away the ones we did have and you have to also give them credit they were well worked goals.
I can understand where you are coming from where in certain games we don't create as much as we would like but on the other hand we've had games where we have created a ton of chances and not finished them. That's football though. We can't expect to go out and create a shit load of chances in every game. Or even score all the small amount of chances we create.

It was a massive mistake. Mistake????? Out strengthen by a colossal player but hardly a mistake! Letting the ball bounce was a massive mistake.

I reckon Chelsea fans will also be blaming one of their star players for a mistake they must have made for the 2 goals they conceded today. If there were no mistakes made in football matches we'd be watching nil nil draws every game.

Individual defensive errors have cost us 7 goals in the last 2 games.
We must find a way of improving the players' concentration levels or we are going to be in real trouble. Errors can become a habit. Defending like we are doing at the moment is a habit we can not afford.

With a couple of defenders and a goal scorer we will be great. Shawcross is desperately short of form, we will be fine.
