Well you got Crouch and Walters Shameful Hughes I think the shameful thing is, of all the millions and millions of pounds spent, we still rely on those 2 as much as we do. Walters is our best no.9, and as much as I love him, and as good as he's been lately, that is worrying. Thought the team was pretty spot on bar Bojan being left out, and first half an hour looked as though Hughes was about to pull off a tactical masterclass. However, individual errors, shit defending and incompetence of keeping the ball knackered us. Bar his management of Bojan, don't think Hughes did much wrong today, players were a disgrace at times. Seeing Glen Johnson licking the arse of the Liverpool players in the tunnel before the game wasn't too pleasing to see either; especially with how wank he was. Glenn Johnson did have a shocker today - possibly the worst game he's had for us

Crouch and Walters did OK but it was never, ever going to be enough I'd still put them towards the bottom of the blame list today Still relying on two TP signings with a combined age of 69 lol.

They were our best players mate, along with Allen and Pieters. What are we saying here? I'm still trying to work out what they did after our goal. That includes Allen who could have come off second half and I wanted have noticed. Getting a yellow card ( needlessly) significantly affected his game. Agree at half time we should have changed things re our attacking set up. Bojan or Shaqiri.

Well you got Crouch and Walters Shameful Hughes Walters had a decent game to be fair. Crouch was shite. He's robbing a living at stoke and if he's not careful he will cost Hughes is job in the same way it did pulis.

As depressing as it is to have these two starting Premier League games, our troubles run much, much, deeper than this.

On the bright side, it's only another 27 chances before Walters will get his next goal.

True, we don't create enough. But I'd love to see the amount of chances Walters has had on a plate but failed to bury. It's got to be fairly substantial.

Jon's lack of pace makes it more difficult to play him in even when its put on a plate he fucks it up more often than not.

Look the plan which Hughes set up to go long and stop the Liverpool pressing game worked for a large part of the first half. We played with as much intensity as I have seen for a while. But there lies the problem as there was no way we could keep up that pace for the full half never mind the whole game which we needed if both Crouch and Walters stayed on the pitch. Unfortunately there did not seem to be a plan in place when that intensity dropped.Surely there should have been because it was obvious it could not be maintained. When Liverpool came more into the game and Crouch and Walters became less effective because of their lack of pace Crouch should have been brought of after about 30 minutes. Possible Walters could have stayed as the lone forward.I know people will say he has no pace but I think have has been doing that job well recently in my opinion. What happens first however is that he brings our only pace off by taking off Diouf. Why not bring Crouch off and put Diouf up front at that stage to try to change the game plan and catch Liverpool on the break as they were pressing forward? The main problem is however as others have said that the managers substitutions make no sense game after game and he has handicapped himself by failing to bring in players with the required pace in the wide positions and the central striker. Arnie is the main hope even if he can be frustrating. Shaquri is never a winger and should be played in the 10 position behind the main (quick) central striker. But can he be relied upon when the going gets tough? Seems to me that Hughes does not trust quite a number of his players in the difficult games - but he brought them into the Club. Sorry about the ramble but its how I feel after that shambles yesterday

I don't think that's true - he's finished in excellent style many times including this season. If he had pace on top of his other attributes the guy would be at the absolute top of the game. With regard playing him in would it be too much to ask for us to occasionally get the ball to the bye line and pull it back into the box?

Jon's lack of pace makes it more difficult to play him in even when its put on a plate he fucks it up more often than not. And that's when he's not offside. Which he is often, due to his chronic lack of pace. As my youngest observed yesterday, he looks like he's running through water or auditioning for Baywatch.
