Wondering if the shop is still going and where the House / Techno / Jungle DJ's are in the city? Still use the slipmats I bought there years ago, good lads in the shop too. Wondering where the scene went in Stoke..

Very pleased to hear this! We have two shops left now for DJ's. well one Play de Record, and even it moved to china town to save rent after almost 30 years. This DJ shit, records, it's collapsing on itself much like football. I'm addicted though and SO HAPPY to hear the shop is stil going strong, chuffed! Fantastic shop but I am a bit biased! Still there are killer records in that shop as I type...

Don't know about that but I do remember bunking off school and going to Sherwins to borrow the 78 of George Lewis playing Burgundy Street Blues in one of their record booths.........bliss.
I also saw this band live in the late 50's at Birmingham Town Hall and they were magic.

Spent some hours in there in the late 90s/early 00s. Pete Bromley was like Shazam, not a tune he didn't know.

Was that Kelvin Andrews place? Pete Bromley's place. Nice fella. Kelvin is still flying the flag with his brother Danny, putting on the "Wonk" parties. It's been a long while since I've been back home, but my younger sister is still part of that scene and rates those Wonk parties as top notch. It's all very much in the acid house spirit. Underground music, good people. Good to see there's still some life left in the Stoke scene after it turned to shit a few years back.

Lovely playing, lovely sound. Blows today's music (if that's what you can call it) away.

Yep still in Pete Bromleys place. Not the cheapest place to buy records from but has a great selection still. I believe it was Dave Seamans shop at the start. One of my favourite tunes ever was made by Kelvin Andrews aswell

When I was serving in Cyprus in the 50's we were entertained one time by Dave Brubeck. Magic. Musicians at the top of their game.

Didn't know this shop but it's reminded me of Lotus Records. Loved that place.
