I don't know whether you hairy @&$ed fellas do any food prep on Christmas Eve. I've pealed the taters, chopped carrots, pealed & split the parsnips & taken the scruffy outer leaves off the sprouts(no crossing on the bottom of sprouts needed) Checked the cooking time for a juicy rare piece of beef. MrsBath is prepping her vegetarian option. I don't know what it is & I don't even feign interest. Glad I've got no toys for the kids that need assembling tonight, this year. Proper gets in the way of my drinking.

Veggies mostly done the rest can wait. One glass of something for medicinal purposes and that'll do.

We've just finished the dinner I cooked at work, we gave turkey a miss cos of having it at home tomorrow.
So we had a slow roasted leg of lamb, roast parsnips, mash, peas, carrots, sprouts, cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and gravy :) bit more challenging without all my usual cooking utensils etc. but it turned out alright.
Can't face pudding just yet.

Well I think Chuffed has his hot toddy for medicinal purposes then opens the single malt to begin the real drinking. Right, off to bed. Stayed up way too late. Just watched my favourite film of all time - The Day of the Jackal - over a couple (actually five or six) Jack Daniels. Have a wonderful day, one and all.

All ready to go. Large organic chicken and a topside of beef. Roasted 'snips and carrots. Broccoli and sprouts. Pig's in blankets, roasties and stuffing.
Homemade mackeral pate all finished. One pot normal, one with capers, one with horseradish and another with grapes :-)
Daughter has done some stunning chocolate cup cakes and the wife's made a trifle. Happy days.
Probably 7 maybe 8 around the table. All good fun.
Good luck to all those slaving over a hot stove tomorrow.
