Said it before and I'll say it again, Ryan is not a captain.
Doesn't lead the team, Doesn't organise the team, Doesn't motivate the team.
When Leicester scored both goals (especially the first), he didn't take charge and motivate the team to make sure we hold on to the lead. He just looked at the floor and strolled back to his position. That is not what a captain does.
In comparison with Whelan, now he might not be the most favourited player at the club but he is very important to our squad and demands the team, ordering players to move around the pitch. Shouting, controlling, motivating. This is what a captain should do.
Ryan has been our skipper for 6 years now but in my eyes, if we pass the armband onto someone else, he wouldn't have the captain responsibility which would allow him to develop and improve as a player.

Him and Huth were rock solid but he's not the same player now. i heard the quote "one of them new fans" in the ground today. I found it a completely stupendous thing to say to brand yourself superior to another supporter. So in the most polite manner, how long have you been a stoke city regular?

At the end of the day it doesn't matter if he's captain or not. If he's not giving it 100% then he doesn't deserve to play week in week out.

You're obviously having trouble differentiating between form and commitment. Anybody questioning Ryan Shawcross's commitment to Stoke City is a moron. If that offends you, tough shit.

Utterly absurd to question Ryan's commitment. The man would run through brick walls for Stoke City and has shown that for the best part of 10 years.

Disappointment leading to some total mindless brainless embarrassing shit being spouted.
Against Southampton Shawcy played ace and led. An horrendous situation all of 3 days later and someone is questioning his commitment to the cause.

On Wednesday Ryan led the team to an unlikely point when we had to play for 60 minutes. With 10 men It would have been more exciting if we had come back from a 2-0 deficit. Ryan also played very well we got a point Tables turned yesterday it was Schmeichals turn to keep Leicester in the game both with his saves and especially at half time when Ranieri was in danger of being sent to the stands. Ryan is less vocal as captain but does that make him a weaker leader? If we'd kept the score at 2-1 would his captaincy be in question? Their 2nd goal was a very good header

The suggestion that Whelan should be captain is frankly idiotic.

Such a daft thread, Ryan played before he was fit on Weds and was carrying the injury today as we had no other defenders. The idea he is not committed is nonsense, leading by example

For anyone to say Ryan does not try is wrong and unfair, but I do not think a back three suits is style. In the first half he got caught out a couple of times. With Ryan in a three it does not work as well .But once we were two up we should of gone to a back four and put someone out on the left to cut down the space there pace men could run into.

He was poor today but the amount of times he's carried the team and got us going again is staggering.
He's been a vital part of our journey to where we are today. He's our captain and will stay being our captain

This always surfaces after a defeat doesn't it. 3 days after a defensive masterclass no less.
