As soon as I can get the time off work, I'm planning to see this. Especially looking forward to seeing Governor Tarkin and Vader again. You can keep your han solos and rebel alliances, The Empire is where it's at. Would soon sort out Brexit LOL

See I find Jedi to be an underrated masterpiece. OK the ewoks are an abomination but the scenes in the throneroom are personally for me, the best in the series. Then again, Palpatine is my favourite character(hence my avatar LOL) Jedi and Revenge of the sith are my two favourites. I think Attack Of The Clones was the weakest of all. If Rogue One is anywhere near the two I've mentioned I'llbe very happy! Question toanyone who sees this; how did you find the CGI Tarkin??

Last hour of this film is up there with some of the greatest ever films.
A little slow to get going but does have a story to tell. Also lots of little cameos from original and prequel films to look out for.

I've watched everyone of the starwars films over the years and have been disappointed in them all
I love going to the cinema but, I'm thinking maybe I should not bother with this one .....or is it really that much better than the other weak story lined drivel before it?

Its imho the only one of the films made after the original trilogy that doesnt feel forced in (no pun intended) even though its set just before a new hope. Compared to the others its darker in tone but for a non star wars fan it may be the little easter eggs and tribute will draw a sigh there is one moment of unnecessary cgi well looked better when in shadow. The thing is if you dont like star wars maybe give it a miss till dvd/blu-ray/netflix/kodi or take the gamble and sod it its 7quid and 2 hours its an adverage of 18quid and 2 hours for stoke yesterday and look how that turned out its all a gamble lol

As for Stoke......unfortunately it's an addiction:( Its a filler its how the rebels find out about the death star why it had a weakness and how they get the plans leading off to the start of the first star wars. So strangely even though we know the end of the story its quite fun getting there. Unlike titanic where all the fun was in it sinking not watching di caprio and winslet bore us with a love story

Brilliant!!

The film without the cgi was fantastically put together, the cgi (if you've seen it you'll know what I'm on about) was poor for me and for the most part wasn't needed.

Thought it was ok - nothing more.
Good action stuff as you'd expect.
But that's about it. The plot was ropey, the characterisation non existent. The ending was just nonsense. Oh, there was loads of nods to earlier Star War films which I guess will appeal to fans. Not me though.

I saw it last night. When I realized the plot was about destroying a Death Star I was actually angry... can't they think of a new f**king idea for once. Near the end that I realized how it all fit together and started to enjoy it a bit more. Visually I thought it was very good, especially the CGI. It only slowly dawned on me that Peter Cushing was dead, I honestly couldn't spot the CGI, although it was a bit unnecessary it was well done. I'm more of a fan of Donnie Yen than I am of Star Wars films so it was a nice surprise to see him turn up as well, even if his character was a bit cliched.

I'm still buzzing a week later from that scene with Vader. I think it was a little weak in the middle but loads and loads of fun overall.

Yeah, that was the best bit for me, when he turned on his light sabre and appeared out of the darkness bathed in red light, those rebels must have shat 'emselves! In a review I read some SW nerd was moaning about Darth Vader not 'moving' like the old one, some people are never satisfied.

If youre not bothered about seeing the whole film, heres a taster of the CGI Tarkin. You can recognise the voice straightaway as that of Guy Henry (Henrik Hansen in Holby City), it also appears to be his eyes, even if the face is Peter Cushing?? Great character and a fine galactic fascist to boot.

Tbf the voice seemed a bit off and he was a little stockier than previously but that didn't bother me tbh.
