What a totally inept first 25 minutes at home again. As soon as i saw Whelan and Adam together in the line up i knew they would slice us open, only reason we we got a result tonight is the fact they slowed their play down and overplayed .Piss poor. "Vis Unita Fortior"

Yes, United strength is stronger.
I'm confused.

I think the point the OP Is making is that with 11 men we weren't up to much. Very understated start. Need to be out if the blocks v Leicester.

If you actually read the post, the OP cites the first twenty five minutes and I totally agree. We were sluggish, ponderous and completely off the pace. Whelan and Adam looked like they were running in treacle. Charlies distribution was again poor. Even before he got sent off Arnie looked disinterested. He should be absolutely destroying full backs with his ability. As for Shaqiri he was bloody awful. At one point Whelan absolutely ripped in to him and rightly so. If he thinks he can play at any higher level he's deluded. All in all a magnificent point but our limitations were there for all to see.

"Vis Unita Fortior" Fully agree. Don't get me wrong the 75 mins after arnie got sent off was a great defensive display but that shouldn't mask how poor we were before this point. I think we really need to go back to the 3 at the back, it was a joke to drop diouf, I can understand muniesa due to injury. Walters shouldn't have started BUT, once we went down to 10 men he ran his bollocks off and really put a shift in which was exactly what was needed but I'm pretty sure hughes didn't plan for us to go to 10 so Walters shouldn't have started. I'm worried we will see Walters and shaq on the wings on Saturday with crouch upfront or something rediculous like that! We really need pace in our team!

I keep saying this but same as Bournemouth Saints were fitter and quicker in midfield and attack than us its a problem that does not seem to be getting sorted . MH is playing football popular 5 years ago the game has moved on

Pick a slow ponderous starting line up. Expect a slow ponderous start.
You're barely going to dominate games with the likes of Whelan, Adam and Walters.
That whole starting 11 lacks pace and power, the premier league is all about pace and power.
Arnie and Shaq are short burst runners, the rest are just fucking slow.
All it needed last night was a 70 minute Crouch sub to complete the package.

I must admit my heart sank when I saw the starting line-up. Not quite sure what Hughes' logic is / was. I would have continued with the same system that had been working so well. Obviously the red card altered everything and it turned out fortunate that we had all our 'grafters' on the pitch after all, but it did not bode well when it was 11 v 11.

WHY did we change the side to accommodate Shawcross and Whelan ???? Was this in Arni's head? he didn't look interested, no intent to beat his player just pass it back all the time.

said it before but we should have the fittest team in the league given we only play half a game a lot of times.

We were useless. The wrong starting 11 luckily became the right 10 for the job

So are you saying you thought Imbula had a great game against the Arse and didn't deserve dropping? And do you think that bringing Shawcross back weakened the team? Do you think he had a poor game yesterday?

"Vis Unita Fortior" I think us going down to 10 men and having everyone sitting back slowedthem down plus good defending from Everone gave them no option but over play

I think Ryan's inclusion in the starting XI was completely justified by his performance, don't you?
I'm not sure he did change the side to accommodate him though, he could have played him in a three at the back if he'd wanted to, I think rather the manager decided he wanted to play with a back four.

We did well to get a point considering it was 13 on 10.
They had the ref and Charlie. Who found it impossible to pass to a Stoke player so he just passed to theirs instead.

If any other team went down to ten men at home. They would of give it a good go. But we just let them take full control of the game and we were very lucky to hold out for a draw.
