Hard to argue with a red really.

Every time I see it, it feels even less of a red card to me. Especially considering there was a similar high foot by a Southampton player (Romeu? Or Ward-prowse) but not even a card given.

Red every day. Just because referees screwed up similar decisions in other games doesn't make it the wrong decision here.

Incredibly fucking harsh in my opinion. He's tried to nick the ball and mis-times it by a fraction of a second. Absolutely no intent to connect with the player, never mind violent intent. A booking would have been questionable, but a red card is a complete fucking joke.

Contact was so slight but as ever the players reaction got him sent off. There player did not roll around and got up quite quickly ,we were right behind the tackle and could only see how high Arnies foot was,but once Arnie went to there player to say sorry we said he must of caught him.If it was not right under the linos nose I think he may of got away with yellow, but by the letter of the law it was red even if there was no contact.

Red sadly, and as mentioned in another thread, it's time for Ramadan and let's see what he can do.

Can see why he gave it. Probably should have been a yellow.
Does he make any contact?

Difficult to say 100 percent from one angle but it looked like a half hearted challenge where he pulled away. He didn't go flying in and I'll be surprised if he made contact. A yellow at worst for me. Of course the Southampton player going down and basically cheating ensured that he went. Of course there'll be no action taken against him.
When you look at some of the challenges that have gone unpunished recently it seemed very harsh.
I think Van Dijks reaction said a lot about how he felt about it. None of there players went rushing to the ref did they.

It's a red card. High foot, dangerous challenge, clear contact (even if it's minimal). Hate to say it but the ref got it right.

So what's Arnie supposed to do ? Just let him take the ball ? Yes he showed studs but that was due to the nature of the bounce - their was no malice and no injury caused.
So early on in the game too ? It's a yellow and a talking to but of course this is Stoke and Taylor is a cunt - I defy anyone who thinks that had a big club player done that he would have been sent off - no chance.

Red all day long.
He even had a go at the same player when he conceded the throw in, following which he got sent off.

Never a red card. If it had been against us it probably wouldn't have been a foul. Lack of consistency. Referees can't agree whats red and what isn't so we've got no chance. And yes Taylor is fucking sank

What's the difference between tonight's challenge and Herrara's on Allen at Old Trafford?Answer one plays for Stoke and one plays for Man UtdMaybe also one ref is a biased cunt and the other has no pre/conceived thoughts on us before he goes on the pitch

Red for a Stoke player..
Probably the benefit of the doubt if it was a player from a nice club like.....Southampton

there wouldnt be an argument about a sending off if the ref had blown for there no.16 diving in the box (trying for a penalty) just before this incident

Absolutely this. Herrera against Man Utd springs to mind. It's a lazy challenge by Arnie really, he just hangs his leg out. Studs are raised but there's no malice, no lunge. He barely touches him, if he even touches him at all. The letter of law states it should be red but the law also states elbowing players is a red but in the last 3 games 3 elbows have failed to result in red cards. 2 of them elbows have failed to result in even a fucking foul

He pulled out of the challenge, so a yellow for me. No intention there or he would have gone through him.

At the time in in play I said clear red card. Sometimes you have to take your blinkers off and be honest. It was a ridiculous challenge to make right in front of the official. If that tackle was on a stoke player I'd have said red so no arguments from me on that front.
The argument I do have though is why wasn't there player booked for diving 30 seconds before that and why wasn't the player that elbowed indi sent off. Consistency is all I want. That cunt tonight was a walking disaster
